Recently I did a digital restoration of a street art of my city, San Felipe, Yaracuy (Venezuela). In that publication I told you that I would continue doing this kind of restorations in other works of urban art in my city.

The one I chose today to restore is one of the most beautiful I saw when it was freshly made. I remember it was when I was in high school, many young people my age and some other people from the community would go to take pictures in this urban art, that's why I would like to share with you this digital restoration work.

Hace poco hice una restauración digital de un arte urbano de mi ciudad, San Felipe, Yaracuy (Venezuela). En esa publicación les comenté que seguiría haciendo este tipo de restauraciones en otras obras de arte urbano que habia en mi ciudad.

El que elegí hoy para restaurar es uno de los más bonitos que vi cuando estaba recién hecho. Recuerdo que fue cuando estaba en bachillerato, muchos jóvenes de mi edad y algunas otras personas de la comunidad iban a tomarse fotografías en este arte urbano, por eso me gustaría compartir con ustedes este trabajo de restauración digital.
Below you can see a photograph of the urban art as it is today. As you can see, it doesn't look at all nice; in fact, it looks quite worn by the passage of time, far from what it was in its moment of glory.
A continuación pueden ver una fotografía del arte urbano tal como está en la actualidad. Como pueden ver, no se ve del todo agradable; de hecho, se ve bastante desgastado por el paso del tiempo, muy lejos de lo que fué en su momento de gloria.
Very close to the street where this graffiti is located there are others that are also very nice; they are not as worn as the one I chose, but you can still appreciate the passage of time on them.
This one, for example, is by a street artist who was very well known here, he used to sign "Capo" and it was very common to see his graffiti in the streets.
Muy cerca de la calle en donde se encuentra este graffiti hay otros que también son muy bonitos; no estan tan desgastados como el que elegí, pero igual se aprecia el paso del tiempo sobre estos.

This other one is just as old as the previous ones, except that it is on a wall where there is no sunlight and where there is shade during most of the day, and the rain does not damage the paint.
This is one of the reasons why it is so well preserved. It is an example of choosing well the place where this street art is done if you want it to remain in time.
Este otro, es igual de viejo que los anteriores, con la salvedad que se encuentra en una pared donde no da la luz del sol y donde hay sombra durante casi todo el día, además de que la lluvia no hace estragos con la pintura.
Esta es una de las razones por las que se encuentra tan bien conservado. Es un ejemplo de elegir bien el lugar en donde se hace este arte callejero si se desea que permanezca en el tiempo.
Well, getting back to the subject of restoration, the first thing I did was to create a digital canvas the same size as the original photograph. I made a completely white canvas to work on.
Bien, volviendo al tema de la restauración, lo primero que hice fue crear un lienzo digital del mismo tamaño que la fotografía original. Hice un lienzo completamente blanco sobre el cual trabajar.
Once I had made my workspace, I began to make a few sketches of the drawing, then I did a more detailed outline of the original art.
This graffiti is composed of two parts, the letters themselves and the drawing of a woman making a sign with her hand and eye, plus a bag held by her left hand.

Una vez hecho mi espacio de trabajo, comencé a hacer unos cuantos bocetos del dibujo, luego hice un delineado más detallado del arte original.
Este graffiti está compuesto por dos partes, las letras en sí y el dibujo de una mujer haciendo una seña con su mano y su ojo, además de una bolsa sujetada por su mano izquierda.

After defining the lines of the drawing, I started coloring the letters. The original drawing has light tones, almost lilac. I used this color as a base for the letters and a more opaque blue color for the relief or 3D effect that the original artist made in each letter.
Tras definir las líneas del dibujo, comencé el coloreado de las letras. El dibujo original tiene tonalidades claras, casi de color lila. Usé este color como base para las letras y un color azul más opaco para el relieve o efecto 3D que el artista original hizo en cada letra.
In contrast to the base color of the letters, the artist used a crimson red for the third letter; he also used a gradient of the same color in the middle of the first two letters, so I followed his example and tried to replicate his work using the same color and effects.
En contraste al color base de las letras, el artista usó un rojo carmesi para la tercera letra; también usó un degradado del mismo color en la mitad de las dos primeras letras, así que seguí su ejemplo y traté de replicar su trabajo usando el mismo color y los mismos efectos.
Many artists place in their graffiti a border with various effects. In this one, the artist made a border with a darker blue than the one I used before for the 3d effect of the letters. In addition to these thick borders, the original art had some lines with no defined shape around it, like fire or something.
Muchos artistas colocan en sus graffitis un borde con diversos efectos. En este, el artista hizo un borde con un azul más oscuro que el que usé antes para el efecto 3d de las letras. Además de estos gruesos bordes, el arte original tenía unas líneas sin forma definida alrededor, como fuego o algo así.
This way the letters of the artwork were finished. The next thing to do was to paint the lady in the bag. The first thing I did was to paint her skin, in this case a light brown color. I painted the tongue in a deep pink color.
De esta manera quedaron terminadas las letras del arte. Lo siguiente sería pintar a la señorita de la bolsa. Lo primero que hice fue pintarle la piel, en este caso de un color marrón claro. La lengua la pinté de color rosado intenso.
In the original artwork she is a blonde with green eyes, so I used these colors to color these areas; light yellow for the hair, blue for the ponytail and green for the eyes.
En el arte original es rubia de ojos verdes, así que usé estos colores para colorear estas áreas; amarillo claro para el cabello, azul para la coleta y verde para los ojos.
Next was the clothing. I painted the shirt in crimson red, the same color as the last letter and the gradient. The skirt was a dark blue color, similar to the border I used for the graffiti letters.
Lo siguiente fue la ropa. La camiseta la pinté de color rojo carmesí, el mismo de la última letra y el degradado. La falda de un color azul oscuro, similar al borde que usé para las letras del graffiti.
To finish, I painted the bag that the girl brought. Something simple, considering the previous work. I used a gray color for the bag and blue, green and orange for the things she brought in the bag.
Para finalizar, pinté la bolsa que traía la chica. Algo simple, considerando el trabajo previo. Usé un color gris para la bolsa y azul, verde y naranja para las cosas que traía en la bolsa.
This is how the work was completed. Once finished I superimposed it on the original photograph and this was the result, this is what the original art looked like when it was created. A very nice one that at the time attracted a lot of attention because there were not many drawings like this in the community where it was drawn.
Así quedó completo el trabajo. Una vez terminado lo superpuse en la fotografía original y este fue el resultado, así se veía el arte original cuando fue creado. Uno muy bonito que en su momento llamó mucho la atención pues no habían muchos dibujos así por la comunidad donde se dibujó.
