Hi all of you graffiti and Streetart lovers from around!
Last summer i spent some time walking around Utrecht where i stumbled on this beautiful piece done by one of my favorite artists, a collection known as De Strakke Hand. I walked past this place many times, but didn't notice the piece because i've always went in the wrong direction âšī¸
The Mural
On the side of restaurant El Qatarijne near shopping mall hoog-catharijne in Utrecht, facing the Mariaplaats infront of the Maria church is this piece done by graffiti collection De Strakke Hand. It's a commision done for the church because they are redecorating the square (Mariaplaats) in front of the church , The piece is inspired by a sketch of Pieter Janz Saenredam, an Art painter and sketch maker born in 1597 and made paintings of the Maria church in 1663.
The mural represents the inside of the Maria church, but De Strakke Hand added some current time details in it, like some figures, a dog, and girl with a violin case, which is a nod to the conservatory on the other side of the Mariaplaats.

Close up of the artists signature and the girl with the violin case
The figures and the dog, unfortunately the fence was in front of the mural

Bonus
As a small bonus and joke, but still streetart, the only UFO in the Netherlands which can be seen in broad daylight đ
In this building called "De Inktpot", which houses the headquarters of the ProRail, the Dutch railway system owners and is a state monument you can find this artwork by Marc Ruygrok. It's called 'Zover' and was placed on the building in 1999 for an art manifestation in Utrecht called Panaroma2000. During the manifestation lights could be seen coming out of the UFO.
