Es bonito volver a esos espacios donde disfruté y conocí a grandes personas. Yo me retiré de la escuela de gastronomía por temas de salud, me tocó estar de reposo bastantes meses y no pude continuar estudios para sous chef de cocina. Me invitaron para el examen final de todos los niveles de la escuela, por supuesto yo iba solo para el área de pastelería, pero fue bonito ver el grupo con el que comencé a estudiar cocina y ver lo bien que presentaron sus platos y los buenos comentarios que hacían los chef evaluadores.
It's nice to return to those places where I enjoyed myself and met great people. I left culinary school for health reasons. I had to rest for several months and couldn't continue my studies to become a sous chef. I was invited to the final exam for all levels of the school. Of course, I only went for the pastry section, but it was nice to see the group I started studying cooking with and see how well they presented their dishes and the good comments the evaluating chefs made.
Cuándo estuve en la academia, hice buena amistad con Lorraine. Ella se encontraba presentando su examen final de pastelería y me tocó ser uno de sus jurados evaluadores. Quién fue mi profesora se río bastante porque me tocó ella y fue de manera aleatoria. Por supuesto que yo sé separar la amistad de lo profesional, pero eso permite que la bajen los nervios y porque esas evaluaciones son bastantes agotadoras.
When I was at the academy, I became good friends with Lorraine. She was taking her final pastry exam, and I happened to be one of her evaluators. My teacher laughed a lot because I was assigned to her randomly. Of course, I know how to separate friendship from professionalism, but that helps her calm her nerves, because those evaluations are quite exhausting.
A mi amiga le tocó representar a Francia, un país que es pilar en cuestiones gastronómicas y más en el área de la pastelería. Ella lo hizo muy bien, con algunos detalles, pero nada que la práctica no haga perfeccionar. También evalúe a otras personas, pero los postres eran representativos de las regiones de Venezuela. No tomé fotos porque estaba modo concentrado jajaja, pero la verdad es que la dulcería criolla tiene mucha técnica y me enfoqué en ayudar porque hubo muchas fallas en las preparaciones y olvidé tomar fotos.
My friend was assigned to represent France, a country that is a pillar in gastronomic matters, especially in the area of pastry. She did very well, with a few details, but nothing that practice won't perfect. I also evaluated other people, but the desserts were representative of the regions of Venezuela. I didn't take any photos because I was concentrating, ha ha ha, but the truth is that Venezuelan confectionery requires a lot of technique, and I focused on helping because there were many mistakes in the preparations, and I forgot to take photos.
Cuándo me desocupé, aproveché de visitar a mis antiguos compañeros de clases y ver todas sus preparaciones. Entre esos compañeros estaban buenas amigas y aprovechamos a compartir, reírnos y grabar videos y demás. Sí, cuándo estoy con ellos ya me tienen de ser alborotador y se emocionante a querer hacer videos o fotos graciosas. De verdad que ese grupo es bastante bueno, disfrutan y no andan con complicaciones, como debe ser en una cocina.
When I had some free time, I took the opportunity to visit my old classmates and see all their preparations. Among those classmates were good friends, and we took the opportunity to share, laugh, and record videos and so on. Yes, when I'm with them, they already know I'm a troublemaker and get excited about making funny videos or photos. That group is really great; they enjoy themselves and don't complicate things, just as it should be in a kitchen.
Tenía casi un año sin pisar la escuela y fue bonito volver y ver caras conocidas y compartir con personas que poco a poco van formando parte de ese círculo de amistades y profesionales. Si me preguntan por si las comidas estaban buenas, por supuesto que sí. Mis amigas cocinan espectacularmente y todo les quedó en su punto. ¿Cómo no disfrutar estos días de evaluación? tantos aromas y sabores, gente bonita y ese compartir de conocimientos que permite que uno siga creciendo.
I hadn't been to school for almost a year, and it was nice to go back and see familiar faces and spend time with people who are gradually becoming part of that circle of friends and professionals. If you ask me if the food was good, of course it was. My friends are amazing cooks, and everything was just right. How could I not enjoy these days of evaluation? So many aromas and flavors, beautiful people, and that sharing of knowledge that allows one to continue growing.
