In the course of our life, we will meet several people that may change our perspective, doubt ourselves, or even become our inspiration. These individuals have certain habits that they mastered or solid experiences that they accumulated throughout the years.
When I was younger, I believed that everything could be learned through school and life experiences. According to science, you need to do this to prevent that. In literature, the life of this author portrays his conflict with his works. On the other hand, I believe that you will just really understand certain things if you've experienced them. However, as I progress in life, I met several people that debunked this belief. I realized that school and life experiences are not the only sources of information you can use to prosper in life. There are people who have already experienced the troubled sea. You just need to listen to them and learn from them.
Introvert as its finest and the start of blogging career
I am an introvert and the idea of meeting new people alone is uncomfortable for me. Over the years, I only stayed with one to two circles of friends, with individuals from my same age range. Like typical teenagers, we often talked about academics, love lives, and sometimes careers. These things are pretty normal, but for me, the downside is that we have little to no wisdom to share and learn from each other. The majority of us are still in the phase of what we call exploration and discovery. This is why I prefer to interact with people older than me since the majority of them have matured mindsets. I like mature people and they make me fall in love, jk.
But despite being an introvert, the boredom caused by the recent pandemic lockdowns forced me to socialize online. During this time, I met several people who had experiences to share. I listened to them and tried to adopt some of the things that I think can be applied to me. Basically, I am learning from them. And I am thankful because I already don't need to experience it the hard way.
This is also the time when I met read.cash, a website where I started writing and blogging. With interaction as one of the ways to introduce myself, I met several individuals and made friends. These amazing people would, later on, help and guide me to achieve things that I didn't believe I would achieve in the first place.
Financial management? Nah.

I sucked at financial management. If you gave me $20, I won't stop spending it until I see nothing in my wallet. I see the satisfaction from this, a satisfaction that after a long time of being broke, I can finally buy the things that I want. This unhealthy behavior further intensified when I started blogging. Blogging gave me the chance to earn from my skill, and every time I earn, I will just spend it shopping on e-commerce apps. I remember that my first payout was PHP 200-300 ($4-6), but I just spent it buying a light decoration for my room. I don’t even need it.
However, it changed when I started to read about the financial progress of my co-writers. They are able to earn this amount of money even though they are just new to blogging. Despite the fact that I was ahead of them, my wallet balance is still zero. This is the time when I realized that there was something wrong with my behavior. To change this, I started to observe how people save money and how they spend it. When I don’t get it, I ask them for some advice. I learned from them and used them as my inspiration to be better at handling money. After months of learning from them, I succeeded. I am able to save enough money that I am able to use for investment.
Changing my routines

Aside from finances, I also started to reflect on how much effort I put into writing. There are writers who are busier than me but are still able to publish their blogs every day and interact with several people. I was like, how can he do that? I can't even do that. I am already struggling with thinking about what to write.
So, I asked this particular person what's his secret, and he answered time management. Do I have poor time management? I manage my time, but I still fail to grind daily. What kind of time management does he do? This is where I got curious and force him to spill it 😆. He said that he wakes up early in the morning and also sleeps early. With this schedule, he has much more time to do his tasks. He also added that he sets a particular and organized schedule for writing and interacting.
After having a conversation with him, I realized that there was something wrong with my routine. I tried to change, starting with my sleeping schedule. At first, it was very difficult, and until now I still fail, but I noticed a drastic change in my energy, and I am able to finish all of my tasks earlier than usual, leaving me with several hours of free time. Thanks to dennnmarc for being an inspiration. I learned so much from you, even though we just met a few months ago 😅.
A word from a veteran...

I also remember what adamada said during our Discord webinar. He said that we are lucky enough because there's someone guiding us. We don't need to spend long hours just exploring and studying Hive. They already simplified the complicated terms and processes so we can understand them in just a short period of time. Aside from the basics and tips, I am grateful that we got to familiarize some of the rookie mistakes. Common mistakes that we would never come across because we already know that this will bring harm to our accounts. Basically, their experiences from months to years of staying here are saving us a lot of time.
Not to be exaggerated, every time I meet these kinds of people, I feel amazed and I am always left speechless. The mere fact that they have the experience, habits, personality, etc that I don't have is already enough to doubt my existence — why I don't think of it, am I too privileged enough to experience this, did I grow up in a wrong environment, etc.
There’s still a long way ahead, and I am excited to meet new people who can also contribute to my growth. I am lucky that I discovered blogging and I have met great people. If I compare my 2020 version to my present version, there will be a great difference. Without knowing these people, I wouldn't have had the time to reflect on myself.
