We'll be publishing the monthly report after auditing the community accounts during the 1st week of August (hopefully). Depending on what the numbers says there, the allocation for rewards going toward the community fund, general community members, and staff will be decided with a 30/35/35 proportion.
This is the first attempt at trying to get the financial aspect of the community organized and documented for added transparency. I know most don't really look at what the community account has been up to but I don't want members to be complacent about not knowing what it's up to.
These efforts are a product of learning from the past about community organization and areas we need to improve as a community. If wala kayo paki kung saan napupunta yung pera at paano ito ginagastos sa community account, gawa nalang kayo ng pwesto para dun sa meron. For the past few reports published, the results generated have been crude and we'd like to continue refining this part.
Reminders:
- Join the HPUD event, details at the HivePH discord.
- Don't forget to use the #voteme channel when you have acquired the "Hayahay" role.
Upcoming Contests:
1st Week of August (1-7)
"Buwan ng Wika" Writing Contest Theme: What Value Can Filipinos Bring on Hive?
I know the theme is in English but this is on purpose as the contest is open to HivePH members, non-Filipinos, and non-members. The post can either be written in Filipino and FIL/ENG only. I would prefer using the Filipino used as the predominant language on the post but this will depend mostly on presentation.
2nd Week of August (7-14):
Theme: How Can I Contribute to Hive?
A post that expounds on your individual potential to bring value into the general Hive ecosystem. This is a follow up on what you mentioned you want to bring into Hive from your introduction posts and other plans that came up after getting some exposure into the ecosystem.
3rd Week of August (14-21):
Theme: What Advice Can You Give to Newbies on Hive?
Recall the time you were onboarded and how things have been going with your Hive experience so far. If you were trying to onboard someone on Hive, what useful advice can you give?
4th Week of August (21-28):
Theme: Your Experience with HivePH
Tell us the positives and negatives of your experience in the community so far. It doesn't matter if the community is presented in a negative light from your post as long as it's an honest criticism on the community. We'd like to hear member feedback and have it documented on the blockchain.
Disclaimer:
There will be prizes for these contests mentioned. A minimum of 500 words for entries. How much prize will depend on the budget available and donations that may come from the events. You join because you want to participate and not because there's a prize hanging. Level your expectations that it may not be worth your time to even bother given how things are still on the bear market (at the time of this writing).
Extended Rant:
A HivePH update isn't complete without this segment, especially if I wrote it.
I have increased the number of Angkan Sirena members on the server. Take that as an act of recognition that you have earned from being active. As a refresher for the Angkan Roles, you can look it up here. Roles/labels given on the discord server use to be name tags but some changes are being made to bring more value in pursuing those roles.
If a position is easily given, it can easily be taken again from you unless you fortify it. This means memberships are a privilege and not a right. Everyone has to do their share of proving their worth in the community. So the only way to secure the position and improve upon it is finding your niche and bring value back into the community that only you can do. This makes your role hard to be taken away from you. Roles are tied to reputation in the group, and it's earned.
Now a lot of members may just take their "Hayahay" labels for granted. This is a failure to notice the intangible value asset the tag has because rather than seeing it as a label, it's actually a key to access other perks that the community has.
Once someone leaves the server or gets demoted, it's harder earn back the reputation compared to when they first had a chance to make an impression. You either done stupid shit or declared uninterest to even go that far but the door has always been open for everyone.
I've been removing some names on the inactive list and it's like killing a hydra, I remove one name and 3 new names come in the server to replace them which is just a coincidence. If you haven't seen any difference, that means I made the right picks to cull out those members because only names that won't be missed get the boot.
Here's the real talk, a lot of the functions that are happening within the staff side of the community run smoothly and probably only get noticed if things fuck up like missed prizes, delayed announcements, and unavailability for events. When things run smoothly, these processes hardly get noticed. Because if you're only concerned about your own account, your vision as a Hive user is narrowed to your own account.
If you are managing things at a community level, you have to plan, negotiate, and execute things that require the approval of other people and that's more complicated than just deciding when you feel like posting a random blog.
The importance of nurturing members growth becomes this community's priority and funneling that value to those that can excel and bring back value. Nothing will come out in supporting those that are solo players from start to end.
While it's understandable that the #voteme value for @hivephilippines doesn't really help make one rich fast. Long term it builds up and compounds on itself. Supposed you just get 0.015 Hive or HBD and it's valued at less than a peso, from that miniscule daily vote when Hive was trading low on the bear market, that's still a free vote you earned just by being a member.
Now let it grow some interest from staking and add more to it by continuing to use the voting privilege daily. In comes the bull market, and from less than a peso value, your holdings suddenly goes to a dollar. The intangible value while going through this process is that you post, with each post earning you around 500x or more than the initial investment you put into the platform.
The power of being in a community helps motivate people to post, get involved, and bring in more rewards for themselves and this is indirectly realized because you aren't consciously counting cents when you're earning especially when your eyes are targeting $. So for those who still think the #voteme channel is just pocket change, I think it's best to not even bother using it and leave more voting power to those that can benefit from it more.
I've given a significant amount of HP delegation towards the @hivephilippines account just to support the community (I'm actually earning less than if I just didn't bother delegating) but this is the small sacrifice one has to make. So consider multiplying that impact to the people delegating to @hivephilippines, they entrust the community to be supporting the people to grow on the platform so that later on the favor gets paid forward.
Kaya besh, kung pera pera lang habol mo, ok lang naman na motivation yan, pero wag nalang maging pabigat sa mga taong pumipili gamiting yung oras nila para tulungan yung iba, sayang yung voting power sa entitled.
