Hello everyone!
This coming August 26 will be my 30th birthday. Instead of having a party at home, I decided to spend my special day with the kids of Amancion Elementary School. I hope you'll help me make this possible. Here are the details:
What: Field Trip of Amancion Elementary School Kids to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park
When: August 26, 2023 (My 30th Birthday)
Where: Carmen, Cebu
Beneficiaries: 25 Kids and Teachers of Amancion Elementary School
Estimated Budget: Php 55,000 (1,000 HBD)

I planned for a very long time about this and it should have been my fundraising activity last April, but I backed out because I was not in the right mindset to pursue this huge undertaking. Now, I'm confident about this because all my previous fundraising activities have been successful. So far, Hive and all of you here have not failed me to achieve the set goals for the activity. As with my previous fundraisers, I'll make use of whatever amount is accumulated. Your donations, no matter how big or small, will be used prudently.
As with my previous fundraising campaigns, accounting and full transparency report will be posted after the event. In fact, I still have the remaining funds with me. From the last event where we distributed raincoats and boots to the kids, here are the remaining funds:
Excess Funds: 16.733 HBD + 139.173 HIVE + PHP 7,817.22
The amount will be included in this event. The previous event was last January and that amount would have been forgotten, but I value your trust in me and my integrity, so everything should be accounted for. Anyway, I'll provide all the links to the previous fundraising event below this post.
My Rationale
This is part of our advocacy about having "More Gratitude and Less Attitude". I am grateful that another year has been added to my life and I want to continue contributing something of positive impact to other people especially to those who need it. It has been my lifelong dream to do activities like this and I'm grateful to Hive and all you donors and benefactors for making it all possible. I'm not yet at a financial state where I can do this on my own. That's why I'm grateful to all of you for your trust.
Why Cebu Safari and Adventure Park?
I wanted to be part of a child's core memory. It doesn't matter if they will remember my name or not, but at least they will remember that someone treated them to see the lions, tigers, and giraffes. They will remember that forever. They will be excited to read their books because for once, they saw with their own eyes what was drawn and described there. They will see that the world is so much bigger and more beautiful than they can imagine.
Cebu Safari is located in Carmen, Cebu and it's just a town away from Catmon, where Amancion Elementary School is located. Logistics-wise, it's not much of a nightmare.
I have to admit that my idealistic younger self hated zoos and aquariums. My younger self would argue that it's a capitalist venture to make a profit out of the animals. Then I realized that the facility is not for me, but for those who don't have the capacity to go to the savannah. It's for those who will learn about the animals and their behaviour in their habitat. Knowing the history of Cebu Safari, I realized that it's the closest thing to the real expanse of nature where a child's imagination will be ignited.
How About the Children's Safety?
I experienced firsthand that those children are not the rowdy type. They're so experienced with the realities of life that they're mature for their age. Also, the 5 teachers (including the School Head) will join in the event. The parents already agreed with this event and they're so happy that their children will be able to experience Cebu Safari.
This is the main reason I was really anxious about this event, but I was assured by the teachers that they will be the in-charge of the children's safety. The teachers from Tabogon also expressed their enthusiasm to join me in this event, so I think there will be an adult who will supervise every single child.
How Was the Budget Estimated?
Here are the details of the budget:
I'm calling all the Cebuano Hivers to join me on my special day! But I will not be able to treat you for free. You will have to be at Cebu Safari at your own expense. I focus on the children, but you are all invited to join. Your presence will be very appreciated, but if you can't join, your donations will go a long way! 😄
I'm knocking at your hearts on behalf of the children of Amancion to donate any amount. If you can donate 40 HBD, you are already shouldering all the costs for one child. Of course, any amount will do as long as it's from the heart. Consider your donations for the children as also your gift for me on my birthday.
