Herkese merhabaaaa!!!

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Ben düne göre kesinlikle daha iyiyim. Özellikle de bugün, geçtiğimiz pazartesi günü gezdiğim ve tattığım şeyleri hatırlayınca kendimi biraz daha iyi hissettim. Sanırım ruhum evin içinde olmaktan bunaldı.

Sanırım son zamanların en sıcak günlerinden birinde İstanbul merkeze, Fatih'e gitmek zorunda kaldım. Elimde minik fanım olmasaydı neler yapardım kesinlikle bir fikrim yok ama günün sonunda hayatta kalmayı başardım. Kardeşimin abonmanı da bu konuda oldukça yardımcı oldu 😂 Malum İstanbul'da ulaşım tek bir araçla gerçekleştiremeleyecek kadar karışık ve yakın gibi görünse de uzak. Sanırım ben İstanbul merkezde yürüyerek bir yerlere kısa zamanda ulaşan hiçbir insan görmedim. Mesela Cerrahpaşa ve Çapa hastaneleri arası elbette yürünebilir fakat ondan sonrasında bir yer pek bilmiyorum.

Otobüs durağına geldiğimde bu o kadar da minik olmayan kedi kendini sevdirdikten sonra hemen buraya uzanıverdi. Tabii bu da bana onu sevmek için daha çok zaman verdi 😂🐈 İstanbul'un kedileri ile biliniyor olması benim çok hoşuma gidiyor. Oldukça barışçıllar ve zaten olmayanlar da etrafta çok dolanmıyorlar.

Özellikle de Fatih ilçesinde her yerde birileri kedileri besliyor. Bir de sabahın erken saati olduğu için bu olaylara tanık olmamak imkânsızdı. Genelde yemek yerken rahatsız olabildikleri için onları sevmeden, es geçmek zorunda kaldım ama olsun. Onların yiyecek bir şeyleri olsun da.

Cerrahpaşa'dan Çapa'ya geçerkende sokakları gezmek istediğim için yürüdüm. Hâlâ erken bir saat olduğu için sıcaklık o kadar etkilemedi diyecektim ama yürüyüşümün sonuna doğru hava birden ısındı. Halbuki saat daha 10 civarıydı. Şehir içi çok sıkıntılı...

Yürüdüğüm sokaklarda sıcaklığa rağmen harika manzaralarla karşılaştım. Hatta bu şemsiyeli pencereler çok hoşuma gitti. Harika bir fikir. Özellikle de giriş katı için ve çiçekler de muazzam.

En sonunda ise Pravesh ile konuşurken de bir Hint restoranına gitmenin iyi bir fikir olabileceğini düşündüm. Evet, geçtiğimiz haftalarda evde Chole Bhature yapmayı denedim fakat tabii ki de orijinali gibi olmadı. Bu sefer ise düzgün bir restorana gitmek istedim. Bu da Fatih'te bulunan Masala Magiic isimli bir yer oldu. Sağ olsunlar bir çok güzel ağırladılar. Öğlen yemeği için oradayken aslında tok olduğumu düşündüğüm için Pravesh'in de önerisi ile ilk olarak Gulab Jamun söyledim.

Çok tatlı. Hem de boğazımı yakacak kadar tatlıydı. Boğazımı yaksa da tatlılığı ben çok sevdim. Bir kadından tatlıyı sevmemesini bekleyemezsiniz sanırım 😂

Menüye biraz daha baktıktan sonra yine Pravesh'in önerisi ile Pani Puri söyledim. Her ne kadar bana ne beklemem gerektiğini söylese de kesinlikle böyle bir şeye hazır değildim çünkü daha önce görmediğim bir şeyi aklımda canlandırmak pek bir zordu. Sanırım iki farklı çeşit su olması gerekiyormuş fakat sadece baharatlı olanı geldi ve ne yalan söyleyeyim bizim acılı Adana kebapların yanında gelen acı közlenmiş biber gibi acıydı.

Neyseki acı severim. Ama sonrasında biraz su ve tatlıya ihtiyaç duydum. Tam bu noktada ise keşke Gulab Jamun'un birisini sonraya saklasaydım dedim.

Doyduğum için artık kalkma zamanı geldi diye düşündüm ki Pani Puri'yi tam olarak bitiremedim de zaten. İyi ki de denemişim. Fatih civarlarına gittiğimde bir kere daha gitmek istiyorum Masala Magiic'e. Hatta hesabı öderken benimle Hintçe konuşmaları gururumu okşadı 🥲 Ama anlamadım çoğunu. İngilizce konuşmaya devam edip hesabı ödeyip çıktım.

Benim için harika bir deneyimdi. Umarım kısa zamanda bir kere daha gidebilirim buraya. Menüde denemek istediğim daha çok şey var.

Hello everyone!

I hope you're doing well or are trying to be well. I'm definitely feeling better than I was yesterday. Especially today, as I was recalling the places I visited and the things I tasted this past Monday, I felt a little better. I think my soul is getting weary of being indoors.

It must have been one of the hottest days in recent times when I had to go into the city centre, to Fatih, in Istanbul. Honestly, I have no idea what I would’ve done without my little handheld fan, but in the end, I managed to survive the day. My sibling’s travel card helped a lot too 😂 As you might expect, getting around in Istanbul is far too complicated to do with just one form of transport, and even if things seem close, they’re actually not. I don't think I've ever seen anyone in central Istanbul just walking somewhere and actually getting there quickly. I mean, of course you can walk between Cerrahpaşa and Çapa hospitals, but I’m not really familiar with the area beyond that.

Anyway...

When I got to the bus stop, this not-so-small cat let me pet it and then immediately flopped down like this. Of course, that gave me more time to fuss over it 😂🐈 I love the fact that Istanbul is so well known for its cats. They’re generally very peaceful, and the ones that aren’t don’t hang around people anyway.

Especially in the Fatih district, you’ll find people feeding cats everywhere. And since it was still early in the morning, it was impossible not to witness moments like that. I usually had to resist petting them while cats were eating nearby, because it can bother them, but that’s alright, as long as the cats have something to eat.

I walked from Cerrahpaşa to Çapa because I wanted to explore the streets. It was still early enough that the heat hadn’t really set in, or so I thought. But towards the end of my walk, it suddenly became quite hot. And it was only around 10 a.m.! City heat is really something else...

Despite the heat, the streets I walked through had some beautiful views. I especially loved these windows with umbrellas hanging above them. Such a clever idea! Particularly great for ground-floor flats—and the flowers were gorgeous, too.

At the end of it all, I was chatting with Pravesh and thought it might be a good idea to go to an Indian restaurant. Yes, I’d tried making Chole Bhature at home a few weeks ago, but of course it didn’t taste quite like the real thing. This time, I wanted to go to a proper restaurant. So I ended up at a place in Fatih called Masala Magiic. They were very kind and welcoming. Since it was lunchtime and I didn’t feel especially hungry, I started off with Gulab Jamun, which Pravesh had recommended.

It was so sweet. Sweet enough to make my throat burn, actually. But despite that, I really liked it. I suppose you can’t expect a woman not to love dessert 😂

After having a look at the menu, I ordered Pani Puri, again on Pravesh’s suggestion. Even though he tried to explain what to expect, I definitely wasn’t ready for it. It’s hard to imagine something you’ve never seen before. Apparently, there were supposed to be two kinds of water, but I only got the spicy one, and to be honest, it was as hot as the grilled chillies they serve with Adana kebabs.

Luckily, I love spicy food. But afterwards, I did need a bit of water and something sweet. At that point, I thought to myself, “I should’ve saved one of the Gulab Jamun pieces for later.”

Since I was full, I decided it was time to leave (I didn’t even manage to finish the Pani Puri). I’m so glad I tried it though. When I’m around Fatih again, I definitely want to return to Masala Magiic. They even spoke to me in Hindi as I was paying, which really warmed my heart 🥲 Though, I didn’t understand most of it. I switched back to English, paid, and left.

It was a lovely experience for me. I hope I can go back sometime soon. There’s still so much on the menu I’d like to try.
