We met Katiuska Camargo because of a post that went viral on Instagram, where she posed nicely dressed, holding a broom. Something so simple caused controversy in these times where everything must be politically correct. We loved that irreverence of Katiuska, who showed "The Power of the Broom"; the name of an action that has been transforming the spaces of her neighborhood, San Blas in Petare (Caracas-Venezuela); the largest neighborhood in the entire continent.
The immensity of the neighborhood has not frightened her; on the contrary, it inspires her to continue changing every corner. That is what she has been doing for more than 10 years; beautifying every space she finds.
When Katiuska told us about her trajectory we were amazed. It is impressive to know that someone can unite neighbors to take ownership of their area and change it to their liking, improving every corner without requesting anything from the State. In fact, it is almost a private development.
However, we had to see all this with our own eyes. That is why that same week we visited the neighborhood. What we witnessed was better than Katiuska's story. The energy you can feel is incredible and it is far away from what people think, thanks to the yellowish media, which all the time say that it is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world.
Honestly, San Blas seems like an oasis in Petare. Thanks to the action of Katiuska and the neighbors; a culture of sense of belonging has been created, where they take responsibility for their environment.

Estamos muy emocionados de compartir con toda la comunidad de Hive, este proyecto ambicioso que estamos construyendo. Prepárense porque lo que viene es grande con la acción de la Web3 impactando vidas.

La inmensidad del barrio no la ha asustado; por el contrario la inspira a seguir cambiando cada rincón. Eso es lo que lleva haciendo por más de 10 años; embelleciendo todos los espacios ue encuentra.
Cuando Katiuska nos contó su trayectoria quedamos maravillados. Es algo impresionante saber que alguien puede unir a los vecinos para que se adueñen de su zona y la cambien a su gusto, mejorando cada rincón sin solicitar nada al Estado. De hecho es casi una urbanización privada.
Sin embargo todo esto debíamos verlo con nuestros propios ojos. Por eso esa misma semana visitamos el barrio. Lo que presenciamos fue mejor que el relato de Katiuska. La energía que se siente es increíble y se distancia demasiado a lo que piensa la gente, gracias al amarillismo de los medios de comunicación, que todo el tiempo dicen que es uno de los barrios más peligrosos del mundo.
Sinceramente San Blas parece un oasis dentro de Petare. Gracias a la acción de Katiuska y los vecinos; se ha creado una cultura de sentido de pertenencia, donde se hacen responsables de su entorno.

The Court
Everything revolves around the sports field. This is the meeting place par excellence for the population and it is also a symbol of everything that can be achieved by "Uniting Wills", which is the name of Katiuska's movement.
This court was in ruins and was the focus of delinquents and drug addicts. Katiuska together with the neighbors cleaned it up and then got the French Embassy to donate the entire repair of the floor.
Then together with other organizations she got the children's playground installed.
Now these spaces are very well cared for. Everyone who uses it, cleans it afterwards. It is impressive how they participate in the care of this emblematic space.
La Cancha
Todo gira en torno a la cancha deportiva. Este es el lugar de encuentro por excelencia >para la población y además es un símbolo de todo lo que se puede lograr "Uniendo Voluntades" que es el nombre del movimiento de Katiuska.
Esta cancha estaba en las ruinas y era foco de delincuentes y drogadictos. Katiuska junto a los vecinos la limpió y después consiguió que la Embajada de Francia donara toda la reparación del piso.
Después junto con otras organizaciónes consiguió la instalación del parque infantil.
Ahora estos espacios son muy cuidados. Todos los que lo usan, lo limpian después. Es impresionante cómo participan en el cuidado de este espacio tan emblemático.
Art Route
What impressed us most was the art route. Dozens of murals throughout the neighborhood. The visual impact is striking. No one can remain indifferent.
This has been very positive for the sector, where violence has been reduced. It also helps children to have cultural activities directly in the streets. Contributing to keep them away from any vice. In the San Blas neighborhood, gangs do not attack; gangs paint and beautify the environment.
Ruta del Arte
Lo que más nos impresionó fue la ruta del arte. Decenas de murales por todo el barrio. El impacto visual es llamativo. Nadie puede quedar indiferente.
Esto ha sido muy positivo para el sector, donde se ha reducido la violencia. También contribuye a que los niños tengan activiades culturales directamente en sus calles. Web3 School
This is where @rutablockchain comes in. We are going to create the first Web3 School in a neighborhood in Venezuela. Of course the protagonist in this educational program will be Hive.
We will train the talents of San Blas and all those who participate directly or indirectly with "Uniendo Voluntades" to be great content creators in Hive. We will also involve many more people, in order to improve the economy of the inhabitants of the neighborhood.
This school already has a classroom, which although it needs some renovations, is ready for our first introductory talk on Saturday, April 16.
Later we will equip the room, so that the new users will have what they need to create good content and publish it.
Escuela Web3
Aquí es donde @rutablockchain entra en acción. Vamos a crear la primera Escuela Web3 en un barrio de Venezuela. Por supuesto que el protagonista en este programa educativo será Hive.
Vamos a capacitar a los talentos de San Blas y a todos los que participan directa o indirectamente con "Uniendo Voluntades" para sean grandes creadores de contenido en Hive. También involucraremos a muchas más personas, de manera de mejorar la economía de los habitantes del barrio.
Esta escuela ya cuenta con un salón, que aunque requiere de algunas reformas, está listo para nuestra primera charla introductoria que será el sábado 16 de abril.
Más adelante equiparemos el salón, para que los nuevos usuarios cuenten con lo necesario para crear buen contenido y publicarlo.

Art Gallery
As you can see art is everywhere. This is Katiuska's mother's house, which is a sort of community center, since all the neighbors come in and out during the day. The doors are always open and it also has photography exhibitions on loan from important cultural organizations in the city.
We envision holding exhibitions of photography, art or even NFT art from Hive users, not only those who join the neighborhood, but from any country; creating a unique and special connection between Hive artists and the neighbors of San Blas.

Araice is a 16 year old girl who, when she turned 15, asked her parents for an ice cream shop as a gift so she could have her own business.
We met her and she is super nice and makes spectacular ice cream. She is also a good student; one of the best in her class. She runs her own business.

Upcoming Projects
The next projects of "Uniendo Voluntades" is the construction of a multipurpose room for the whole community and with an extension for the school, on the second floor.
We are also producing a documentary about all that has been achieved in San Blas, thanks to Katiuska's leadership and that we did not mention, but she also eliminated more than 10 garbage dumps.
For now we do not plan to participate in these projects; however, in the next block we will present our roadmap.
