Happy Tuesday! Joining the #TTT or #ThreeTuneTuesdayπ€π», thanks to @ablaze for coming up with this amazing idea.
I've watched the Wicked movie last November and it left me LSS with the tracks.
WICKED
Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Galinda, a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads. - IMDb
The songs and the scenes have been living in my head rent free, especially the iconic The Wizard and I & Defying Gravity scenes. I just can't wait for the Part 2 to hit the big screens.
And now that Wicked Sing-Along is playing in the cinemas, I thought why not feature my top 3 favorite songs from the Wicked? These are the songs my sister and I sing on repeat, as if we're Glinda and Elphaba, complete with expressions and all π
πΆ What is this feeling?

So sudden and new? (Loathing)
I felt the moment
I laid eyes on you
My pulse is rushing
(Let's just say) my head is reeling
(We loathe it all)
Oh, what is this feeling?
This duet between Ariana and Cynthia was pure perfection! Their voices complemented each other so perfectly, especially during the 'loathing' part. If there's a love at first sight, this one captures the 'hate at first sight' moment. It's catchy and witty!
πΆ The Wizard and I

My future is unlimited
And I've just had a vision almost like a prophecy
I know, it sounds truly crazy
And true, the vision's hazy
But I swear, someday there'll be
A celebration throughout OZ
That's all to do with me!
This song is hopeful yet bittersweet. It radiates positivity and enthusiasm but if you already know the whole Wicked story, it's heartbreaking! Cynthia's performance in this scene was breathtaking. There's so much emotion into it that I wanted to stand up and give her a standing ovation while watching the film π I liked this song's emotional depth than Defying Gravity.
πΆ Defying Gravity

Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately, "Everyone deserves the chance to fly"
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who ground me, take a message back from me
I admit that this song, especially Cynthia's rendition, gave me the chills. It's definitely the anthem of empowerment. The moment Elphaba realized her strength and decided to rise was superb! Sometimes when I'm all alone at home, I let my inner Elphaba shine and sing this song at the top of my lungs. It's the perfect ending to the film which left me wanting for more. Can't wait to see the Part 2!
