Underrated Rnb Nu Soul singer
If you've followed my three tunes Tuesday, at some point I mentioned I like listening to Rnb and soul. There are so many singers/songwriters in RnbSoul scene that I’d like to introduce you to especially when they’re mostly underrated/unknown artists. Today, I would like to specially introduce you to a singer & songwriter from the US called Jeff Bernat. He started producing music from 2012 and now has produced 4 albums. Some of his songs also featured on Korean dramas like Call You Mine in K-drama You're My Destiny. I discovered Jeff Bernat about 3 years ago at some random Rnb playlist on youtube. Since then, his music has been something I listen to when I am trying to write or having creative blocks. His music is often played at cafes/coffee shops too. From what I know, he’s more famous in Korea than the US and from his collaboration with the Korean RnB soul scene, from his collaboration, I also discovered one famous Korean singer, Dean. Okay, maybe that’s for another time where I’d introduce you to Dean and Korean R&b Soul scene. Jeff Bernat, has one song called " Girl at the coffee shop" which you'll know why I like it. Today, I'll just mention three top songs from him that I love, which honestly is difficult because I love all of them.
Angel 2 Me ft Mckay
Angel 2 me is a song that Jeff produced featuring McKay Kim, another underrated singer and songwriter. The music is also available in two versions, English and one is with korean. The korean version is pretty catchy too and even when you don't speak korean, the lyrics were easy enough to make you sing along. I really want them to be recognized more so, I am doing my part here :D
Girl at the coffee shop
I wish this song had its own MV that exactly illustrates the lyrics. It's such a dreamy song and only happens in movies/songs. He also does spoken singing in this one. Did this ever happen to you? If so, that's pretty cute and romantic.
I'm slowly walking up to her
As I approached the register
Looking at the book she has
And Mitch Albom's the author
I say, "How you doin'? Hi, my name is Jeffrey
I'll get the same thing but first make this girl's a venti source Jeff Bernat Lyrics
Call you mine
This song is the oldest one that he sings and writes. It has that catchy tune and lyrics too. I love to listen to this one when I am writing/journaling. This is also great music to play at a coffee shop and I also heard it often.
Let me know if you find them amusing/ like it. Also a bonus from me to introduce you to Dean. Anyway, see you next week in different themes!
If you want to participate, check out @ablaze blog to know more about it. Have fun!
