Que sorprendente lo rápido que transcurre el tiempo, y es que ya estamos en el último mes del año, hoy es martes 6 de Diciembre 2022, y hoy he vuelto a la iniciativa musical más genial de todo Hive: Three Tune Tuesday, espacio creado por @ablaze, para que cada uno de los participantes, seamos o no músicos profesionales o aficionados, compartamos tres canciones de esas bien chéveres e importantes para nosotros; la cual ya arriba a su semana 80, y aquí vengo a traerles otro acetato, ¡oh sí!
How surprising how fast time passes, and we are already in the last month of the year, today is Tuesday, December 6, 2022, and today I have returned to the coolest musical initiative in all of Hive: Three Tune Tuesday, space created by @ablaze, so that each of the participants, whether or not we are professional or amateur musicians, share three of those very cool and important songs for us; which is already at its 80th week, and here I come to bring you another acetate, oh yes!
Los invitados para el día de hoy, corresponden a una de las mejores bandas que sonaron durante la década de los 80’s y mediados de los 90’s en la escena musical de América Latina, y es grupo chileno “Los Prisioneros”, quienes hicieron música genial, la cual oscilaba entre el rock y el pop, con letras muy buenas y un sonido bien particular. Creo que toda persona que disfrutó de esta época en Sudamérica y Centroamérica, conoció a este grupo, pues fue en los 80’s que surgieron cientos de buenas bandas y cantantes de rock y pop que dejaron huella indeleble en los jóvenes de aquel momento, dentro de los cuales mi incluyo yo. Puedo decir que me siento afortunada de haber vivido musicalmente esa década.
Today's guests correspond to one of the best bands that played during the 80's and mid 90's in the Latin American music scene, and it is the Chilean group “Los Prisioneros”, who made great music, which oscillated between rock and pop, with very good lyrics and a very particular sound. I think that everyone who enjoyed this time in South and Central America knew this group, because it was in the 80's that hundreds of good rock and pop bands and singers emerged who left an indelible mark on the youth of that time, within the which I'm include. I can say that I feel lucky to have lived that decade musically.
Los Prisioneros sonaban mucho en las minitecas, pues ellos tenían música muy buena para hacer mezclas y para bailar, además sus letras eran muy originales al igual que su sonido; por eso los oí por primera vez en estos eventos de minitecas a mediados de los 80’s, quizás en 1985 o 1986. Recuerdo que me agradaba el sonido de “Sexo”, una de sus primeras canciones, como también me gustaban por su letra y por sus melodías, canciones como “¿Por qué no se van?” y “El baile de los que sobran”, con letras bien contestatarias y sonidos originales, especialmente esta última.
Los Prisioneros played a lot in the minitheques, because they had very good music to mix and dance to, their lyrics were very original as well as their sound; that's why I heard them for the first time at these minitheques events in the mid-80's, maybe in 1985 or 1986. I remember liking the sound of “Sexo”, one of their first songs, as well as liking it for its lyrics and for their melodies, songs like “¿Por qué no se van?” and “El baile de los que sobran", with very rebellious lyrics and original sounds, especially the latter.
Este disco que traigo hoy, es el tercero en la discografía de esta banda, y se llama “La Cultura de la Basura”, a mi entender, es uno de los mejores discos de ellos. Inicialmente este acetato salió en 1987, pero yo compré una reedición que fabricaron y sacaron a la venta en mi país, Venezuela, en el año 1989. Como pueden ver su carátula tiene un diseño asimétrico, con un fondo blanco y un juego de colores vivos en letras y figuras, incluida una bella estrella, el nombre del grupo y del LP. También en el frente tiene el nombre del sello disquero, que supongo era foráneo pero hizo contrato con Rodven Discos, una de las principales disqueras venezolanas de aquel momento. En la contraportada podemos observar la continuidad del juego de formas de la portada, pero aquí predomina el azul, en donde podemos leer los nombres de las 10 canciones que trae el vinilo, más los datos de fabricación, el sello de EMI Récords, (que supongo también participaba de esta producción), el precio de venta al público y los nombres de los miembros de “Los Prisioneros.”
This album that I bring today, is the third in the discography of this band, and is called "La Cultura de la Basura", in my opinion, it is one of their best albums. Initially, this acetate came out in 1987, but I bought a reissue that was manufactured and released in my country, Venezuela, in 1989. As you can see, its cover has an asymmetrical design, with a white background and a set of bright colors in letters and figures, including a beautiful star, the name of the group and the LP. It also has the name of the record label on the front, which I suppose was foreign but made a contract with Rodven Discos, one of the main Venezuelan record labels at that time. On the back cover we can see the continuity of the set of shapes on the cover, but here blue predominates, where we can read the names of the 10 songs that the vinyl brings, plus the manufacturing data, the EMI Records label, (which I guess he also participated in this production), the price of sale to the public and the names of the members of “Los Prisioneros.”
Ya es costumbre que cada martes de #ttt hagamos un ejercicio de arqueología moderna, y hoy no será la excepción. Aquí vemos que este disco tiene un Precio de Venta al Público (P.V.P.), de Bs. 210,00 lo cual equivaldría a 5.51 dólares americanos, un precio relativamente aceptable para el momento, lo cual pude costear. Este disco no trajo cancionero, (que yo recuerde), aunque conservo su funda original, y el disco está bastante intacto, como se observa en las fotos.
It is customary that every Tuesday of #ttt we do an exercise in modern archaeology, and today will not be the exception. Here we see that this disc has a Retail Price (P.V.P.), of Bs. 210.00, which would be equivalent to 5.51 US dollars, a relatively acceptable price for the moment, which I could afford. This disc did not come with a songbook (as far as I remember), although I still have its original cover, and the disc is quite intact, as can be seen in the photos.

Previamente dije que este disco es uno de los mejores de “Los Prisioneros”, pues sus canciones son buenas y originales. Y mi primera canción es el track número cuatro del lado 1 del disco, una canción de amor, con un súper interesante sonido de bajo y una letra memorable llamada “Cuando te vayas”. Esta canción me gustó por eso y porque reflejaba en parte lo que sentía yo en ese momento con una relación amorosa algo conflictiva, con un novio que no se portaba del todo bien. Aquí les dejo una parte de su letra y el video. Que los disfruten.
I previously said that this album is one of the best of "Los Prisioneros", because its songs are good and original. And my first song is track number four on side 1 of the album, a love song, with a super interesting bass sound and a memorable lyric called “Cuando te vayas”. I liked this song for that reason and because it partly reflected what I felt at that moment with a somewhat conflictive love relationship, with a boyfriend who didn't behave at all well. Mi segunda canción, es la archiconocida (en Latinoamérica) “We are Sudamerican Rockers”, un rock and roll, realmente bueno, muy particular, con sonidos de bajo, guitarra y batería bien interesantes, y una letra diferente como todas las canciones de este grupo. Esta canción no me cansaba de cantarla, de corearla, realmente disfrutaba mucho de oírla y cantarla, especialmente el coro que está en Inglés y Francés. Aquí les traigo un video de una presentación en vivo; sin embargo, en esta oportunidad ellos la cantan un tono más abajo con respecto a la original, supongo que quisieron darle una vuelta de tuerca a la canción. También les traigo parte de las letras.
My second song is the well-known (in Latin America) "We are Sudamerican Rockers", a rock and roll, really good, very particular, with very interesting bass, guitar and drum sounds, and different lyrics like all the songs on this group. I never tired of singing this song, of singing it, I really enjoyed listening to it and singing it, especially the chorus that is in English and French. Here I bring you a video of a live performance; however, this time they sing it a tone lower than the original, I suppose they wanted to give the song a twist. I also bring you part of the lyrics.
Quiero finalizar hoy, con una canción que creo que es muy apropiada para mi pueblo venezolano, en vista del terrible éxodo migratorio que experimenta desde unos años a la actualidad, y es “Maldito Sudaca”, un extraño híbrido entre reggae y ska, con una batería que le imprime fuerza a la canción y con una letra dura, pero cierta. Para quienes no sepan qué significa sudaca, es un adjetivo de carácter despectivo, con el cual algunas personas de algunos países, señalan a quienes somos nativos de Centro y Sudamérica. Aquí les dejo el video de una presentación en vivo y una parte de su letra.
I want to finish today with a song that I think is very appropriate for my Venezuelan people, in view of the terrible migratory exodus that they have been experiencing for a few years now, and it is "Maldito Sudaca", a strange hybrid between reggae and ska, with a drums that gives strength to the song and with harsh lyrics, but true. For those who do not know what sudaca means, it is a derogatory adjective, with which some people from some countries point to those of us who are natives of Central and South America. Here I leave the video of a live performance and a part of his lyrics.
Este ha sido mi aporte para esta genial iniciativa del amigo @ablaze en su edición número 80, a manera de homenaje a una gran banda sudamericana, que hizo muy buena música, con grandes letras y un sonido muy original durante los 80’s, como es “Los Prisioneros”.
