Saludos, queridos amigos, en un nuevo Three Tune Tuesday, que ya está en su semana número 86, iniciativa en la cual, martes a martes compartimos una actividad que nació gracias al amigo @ablaze, actividad en la cual compartimos tres buenas canciones. Y hoy tampoco les traje un acetato, estoy atascada con un LP del cual estoy tratando de encontrar una de las canciones que quiero compartir con ustedes, ojalá la otra semana lo traiga conmigo; así que para hoy pues les compartiré otro CD de mi colección.
Greetings, dear friends, in a new Three Tune Tuesday, which is already in its 86th week, an initiative in which, Tuesday to Tuesday, we share an activity that was born thanks to our friend @ablaze, an activity in which which we share three good songs. And today I didn't bring you an acetate either, I'm stuck with an LP from which I'm trying to find one of the songs that I want to share with you, hopefully next week I'll bring it with me; so for today I will share another CD from my collection.
Hoy traje una banda que creo es amada por muchos. Se trata nada más y nada menos que de los irlandeses de U2, uno de los grupos icónicos de los 80’s y 90’s, que estoy segura forma parte de la memoria musical de muchos de nosotros. Dudo que exista alguien en el planeta no haya oído alguna que otra vez una canción de esta magnífica banda, o que jamás haya oído hablar de su vocalista Bono.
Today I brought a band that I think is loved by many. It is nothing more and nothing less than the Irish U2, one of the iconic groups of the 80's and 90's, which I am sure forms part of the musical memory of many of us. I doubt that there is anyone on the planet who has never heard a song by this magnificent band, or who has never heard of their vocalist Bono.
A U2 los conocí a mediados de los 80’s, pero me interesaron mucho más, cuando a principio de los 90’s llegó a mi apartamento, un acetato de ellos, el cual llevó mi novio de ese entonces. Se trataba del álbum Achtung Baby, y recuerdo claramente cuando él lo sacó de su carátula y lo colocó y me dijo: “Oye esto”, procedió a colocarme la bella canción “One”. Allí caí flechada por los chicos irlandeses, flechazo que permanece vivo al día de hoy.
I met U2 in the mid 80's, but they interested me much more, when at the beginning of the 90's an acetate of them came to my apartment, which my boyfriend at the time brought. It was the album Achtung Baby, and I clearly remember when he took it out of its package and put it on and said, “Listen to this”, he proceeded to put the beautiful song “One”. There I fell smitten by the Irish boys, a crush that remains alive to this day.
Aunque tengo otro disco de U2, hoy traje el que más me gusta, y es este compilado de 18 sencillos que nos pasea a lo largo de gran parte de su historia musical. Este compacto, al igual que otros diez más, forman parte de un regalo que recibí de alguien a quien quiero mucho; por lo que tampoco hoy habrá ejercicio de Arqueología Moderna, y nos quedaremos con la duda respecto a su precio de venta. Si observamos el revés del empaque del CD, es un disco que se produjo en el año 2006. También veremos algunos datos de su licencia de fabricación y difusión para algunos países de Sudamérica, como Perú y Venezuela. Y si bien en la portada vemos a los miembros del grupo muy jóvenes, quizás a principios de los 80, en el revés los vemos más adultos, (pero igualmente guapos), y la lista de las 18 canciones.
Although I have another U2 album, today I brought the one I like the most, and it is this compilation of 18 singles that takes us through much of their musical history. This compact, like ten others, is part of a gift I received from someone I love very much; so there will be no Modern Archeology exercise today either, and we will be left with the doubt regarding its sale price. If we look at the back of the CD packaging, it is a disc that was produced in 2006. We will also see some data on its manufacturing and distribution license for some South American countries, such as Peru and Venezuela. And although on the cover we see the very young members of the group, perhaps in the early 80s, on the reverse we see them more adults (but equally handsome), and the list of 18 songs.
Además de las canciones de esta producción, que fueron sabiamente seleccionadas, también me gusta mucho el cancionero que trae incluido, pues además de las letras, hay estupendas fotos de la banda, que corresponden a varias de sus etapas. Aquí pueden ver algunas de ellas.
In addition to the songs from this production, which were wisely selected, I also really like the included songbook, because in addition to the lyrics, there are great photos of the band, which correspond to several of their stages. Here you can see some of them.

Inicio esta trilogía con la tercera canción de este álbum, con la bella Pride (In The Name Of Love), una melodía del año 1984, cuyo intro me llena de energía y me hace feliz. Realmente son épicos los primeros acordes de esta canción, (bueno, toda la canción), que aún cuando tiene marcados tintes de protesta (fue un homenaje a Martin Luther King), para mí trasciende esto y me anima a vivir. Les dejo un trocito de su letra y el video oficial remasterizado, así como otro video de una presentación del año 1987 en Belfast. I start this trilogy with the third song of this album, with the beautiful Pride (In The Name Of Love), a melody from 1984, whose intro fills me with energy and makes me happy. The first chords of this song are really epic (well, the whole song), which even though it has marked protest overtones (it was a tribute to Martin Luther King), for me it transcends this and encourages me to live. Prosigo la trilogía de hoy, con la bella balada Whith or Whithout you, la cual formó parte de la banda musical de mi despecho más largo. De veras, los seres humanos somos masoquistas, y muchas veces cuando estamos en plena crisis amorosa buscamos la autoflagelación, oyendo canciones que nos hacen recordar al ser amado. Ese fue mi caso. Gracias a Dios tengo décadas sin conocer lo que es un despecho, y espero que esta dura experiencia no se repita. Así pues, que aquí les traigo esta canción que me removía las emociones en ese entonces, pero que hoy sólo remueve mis recuerdos, los cuales veo desde lejos y con tranquilidad. No obstante, es una preciosa canción. Le comparto parte de la letra y el video oficial.
I continue today's trilogy, with the beautiful ballad Whith or Without you, which was part of the musical band of my longest spite. Really, human beings are masochists, and many times when we are in the middle of a love crisis we seek self-flagellation, listening to songs that remind us of being loved. That was my case. Thank God I have decades without knowing what spite is, and I hope that this harsh experience is not repeated. So, here I bring you this song that stirred my emotions at that time, but today it only stirs my memories, which I see from afar and calmly. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful song. I share part of the lyrics and the official video.
Y cierro la trilogía de este ttt con la canción que me hizo enamorar de U2, y es One, una melodía del año 1991, que también es una canción de protesta (esta vez inspirada en la reunificación de las dos Alemanias luego de la caída del Muro de Berlín), pero para mí representaba amor, el amor de ese tiempo, porque fue por él que conocí a esta magnífica banda. Aquí les dejo el video oficial de la canción y un pedacito de la letra. También obsequio un video adicional, de otra hermosa canción como es Stay (Faraway, So Close!). ¡Que las disfruten!
