it starts with
the perpetual dream
in which the girl
keeps on falling through
the door frame
only to wake on the other side
and to find the same thing
happening all over
again
An Ode to the Girl Who I Could Never Write
She is stuck in a dream, where she infinitely falls through a door frame, only to wake up on the other side with nothing changed.
It is almost like falling through a mirror, and expecting a different world on the other side, she merely sees the familiar world turned inside out, a mirrored reflection of what she intimately knows.
She is stuck in a dream, perpetually falling through a door that leads here nowhere, a Sisyphean nightmare where instead of a rock that she needs to push up a hill, she needs to find her way out of the hallway that leads nowhere. But the harder she tries to escape this hellscape, the more she falls into the loop of infinite paths leading to the same place. The mirror reflects what she only dreams of escaping because with each unsuccessful attempt, she makes at trying to push through, she falls deeper into the nothingness that surrounds her. The outside world merely becomes a portrait on the wall to which she has no reference, nothing that ties her to that world, long gone now.
Recently, I found the girl in a door frame looking at me like those old western movies with the girl in the door, looking over a piece of land she will never experience, trapped behind her circumstances.
The girl looked from the doorframe, and I could not stop myself from capturing the moment. This is the result of this moment. I hope that you enjoy these photographs.
Perpetually Falling Through the Door Frame

Postscriptum, One Way Leading to Another
Life can sometimes really feel like the door leading to another, only to open on the same scene. It is a classic nightmare, I am sure of it. Perpetually falling into the same.
Waking up to the same scene can resemble this, but we are after all the artists of our own lives, and we need to construct the reality around us, not reality imposing its sets of rules onto us. (We cannot escape everything, but we can control a lot of things.)
May your days be filled with falling into something different, something beautiful that will end up growing new flowers and new ideas.
For now, happy photographing, and keep well.
All of the photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300 and Nikkor 50mm lens. The musings and writings are also my own, albeit inspired by the girl I could never write.
