I took this portrait of an ancient apple tree near Harpswell, Maine on a short vacation. My #wednesdaywalk (by @tattoodjay) was walking around the yard shortly after we arrived.
There was a nice mowed backyard and a couple of paths that led nearer to the water but I was immediately drawn to this old apple tree.
It was aging but it was a survivor.
The tree had a partner creating a lovely spot for a picnic lunch. The pair of apple trees bend together to form a canopy over the picnic table. It doesn't appear to get much use because there are several rotting apples on the table 🙄 I also scared off a large ground hog that was munching on the green foliage in the yard. I have never been to the Maine coast but it is beautiful. Very green this time of the year. In fact its been raining off and on. Hopeful we get some sun.
We are fortunate to stay in this home of a friend. Looking forward to a few days on the lovely Maine coast. Harpswell has a great market with fresh locally caught lobster. There are buoys marking lobster traps all around in the water surrounding the pennisula. Harpswell is made up of the long Harpswell Neck which is connected to 3 large islands and surrounded by 200 smaller islands accessible only by boat. It is the definition of a Maine seacoast village. Thanks for checking out my post 👍 Thats the end of my short #wednesdaywalk but just the beginning of my vacation 🙂
