Welcome to my #wednesdaywalk (hosted by @tattoodjay ). I got out for a walk on the Maine seacoast last week even though it was foggy. The Erica Jade is a lobster boat based out of Harpswell, Maine.
I was out early and the docks were still quiet. The lobster traps are all lined up and ready to go. I think this pier actually belongs to Erica's Seafood. There is a nearby marina also - Dolphin Marina. I was fortunate enough to see a dolphin fishing close to the shore 🐬 on my trip!
The boats moored at the marina faded into the fog. I said I went walking in spite of the fog but truth be told I was out in the fog looking for good photos 🙂
Harpswell, Maine is normally a bustling lobster fishing port. Fishermen bring in their catch to this pier. Its weighed, tagged and sold. There is a fresh lobster and fish market nearby and several local resaurants. I'm sure the activity picked up later in the morning.
The nearby coast is beautiful too. It was low tide and seaweed was showing in the shallow water.
The rocky Maine coast was also revealed by the low tide. The tides are quite extreme here. Tides were 9-10 feet while we were visiting. The docks are floating and have long gangplanks that go up and down with the tide. We were actually staying on an island that you could walk to at low tide but had to row out to when the tide came in. It was a wonderful experience. Have a great day 👍
