A few days ago I wrote about ways that I have changed my content for the better. And I could not fit all of my tips in there for just five points. So I decided to write out another five and talk about them again. These tips are my personal opinions and do not reflect the wider community. These are just my tips, so do what you want with them. But I think they are important factors to consider. Along with things you can do to better yourself as a Hive author.
Clean off your camera lens
This may sound silly, but I am amazed how many smudged mobile phone photography posts I come across. When I am working outside, my phones camera tends to get stuff on it overtime. But before I take picture to post I just wipe it off. So yeah I guess I need to point this out, as I keep coming across posts like this. Yes it is possible they have a scratched lens on their phone which they cannot clean. But I think the most part they just need to wipe down their phone lens.. lol
Be aware of your KE ratio
Awhile back I wrote a post talking about how I have noticed some Hive users power down nearly all their Hive and do not stake it. Alot of discussion spawned from this topic and since then a metric called the “Krampus coefficient” was created. And now you can find Hive users KE ratios using peakd. Some curators will look at this and decide if they want to upvote or not. So its best to keep your KE ratio as low as possible. Otherwise you may miss out on potential votes. If your KE ratio is high, you can lower it by staking more of your rewards or buying and powering up Hive.
Reply to your comments, all of them
It is hard to see a great post full of great comments and the author never responds to them. If someone took the time to comment on your post, the least you can do is reply. It can be short, but just take the time to acknowledge them. If its a bot comment, I get it.. skip it. But if its from a real person they deserve a reply. Its fine if you do not reply right away, but do not forget about replying.
Use creative titling
Find new ways to describe your posts, making sure to grab attention. Also consider the first hundred words of the post will show up as a preview. So they should be something that grabs attention the best as possible.
Do not overdo the post footer
I have seen short 100 word posts, followed up by nearly a page of just “filler” afterwards. Its usually banners, links or quotes and it never changes post to post. And I feel this is a easy way to increase your word count in posts but always including these footers. But for curators it gets tiring of seeing and I do not think they may be getting the results they were hoping.
