I wrote a short post last night:
@karenb54/snoring-and-the-evil-thoughts-i-have
I have a routine that i follow most nights, i don't sleep very well due to pain and hot flushes plus hubby's snoring is ridiculously loud and very annoying. Its that bad at times i get a headache listening to him and have to go sleep downstairs where i can still hear him but with the doors closed its muffled.
Hubby falls asleep as soon as his head its the pillow, whereas i lie awake until around 3am. With my health problems and Mental Health i have learned Mindfulness Meditation.

With Mindfulness Meditation you don't aim to empty your mind. We have so many thoughts running through our heads, so many questions, so many tasks to do so emptying the mind is rather difficult, with Mindfulness you let all those thoughts float through your mind without focusing on any thought, Let them come and go.
Sit or lie somewhere comfortable and quiet (especially when you're new to it)
Concentrate on your breathing,
Breathe in through your nose counting 1...2...3...hold
Breathe out 1...2...3...hold
Keep focusing on your breathing
If your mind wanders off bring yourself back go your breathing.
You will still have thoughts popping into your mind, let them come and go.
Do this for 10 minutes your first few times then try longer.
This is what i use to get to sleep myself, I am still learning how to do it when he is snoring, my thoughts wander to knocking him out or suffocating him with my pillow. Once he quietens down i start my meditation, this helps me relax, I am still learning how to not focus on my pain, The meditation helps my body and mind to relax so i can drift off to sleep.
Like everything it takes time, trying a couple of times a week will help you get into the zone.
This is really good for Mental Health, your mind feels clearer, your body is relaxed. You can also use this for through the day, if your mind has to much going on go meditate to clear your mind making you able to deal with the rest of the day.
Ii think we all need to relax more, chill out and deal with each day as it comes.
