Root Cause of a Problem and Energy Exercise
I have been a practitioner of energy exercises like EFT, Ho’oponopono, NLP, and more for fifteen years now, and yet I end up with periodic surprises when dealing with the disempowering feelings that accompany a problem. There are two types of problems that seem to have no solution and yet can be solved. We will be looking at only one of them over here. But first, what are the two types?
The first one is a “blind spot” or a problem that we can’t even see, let alone deal with. I have come out of depression, but to do that, I needed a counsellor to show me what I was unable to see. Imagine that, fifteen years of energy exercise experience, and yet I couldn’t solve a problem that I was facing. In short, “blind spot” problems need eyes outside of us to show us the problem. Hence, the counsellor in my case. The second one is not finding the root cause of the problem. As energy exercise practitioners, many would have experienced situations where the interventions just do not neutralize the feelings. Mostly, that would be because we have been unable to unearth the real “root cause”; needless to say, no root cause, no solution.
In this discussion, we will be looking at the latter one – lack of root cause identification. Let’s get started.
Lack of Root Cause Identification | How It Impedes Problem Neutralization
While we talk about problem neutralization, let’s first understand that we are talking about energy exercises here, and the neutralization is for the feelings associated with the problems. Not the problems themselves. But most likely, if we can neutralize the feelings, then the problem doesn’t appear as mammoth as our mind would want us to believe. And that, therefore, allows us to deal with the problem much more effectively and handle it better.
Now, all of us understand what a root cause is and how we can find it and deal with it. So, I won’t get into explaining that. But here is one unique situation that I faced where the problem seemed to have multiple root causes. At one point, I wasn’t even sure if the problem would get solved or not.
What was the problem? It was one of my tenants that I had recently completed an agreement with, and the head-spinning problem of getting her out.
The Crazy Tenant | And An Intriguing Tale of Multiple Root Causes
Let me start with the background first. I had found a tenant recently for my house, and the interaction started with a lot of hiccups. I am a male, while this tenant is a lady. First of all, men have to be a bit more careful dealing with a lady than with another man. I guess this is the same worldwide, or at least, mostly. But I made of lot of mistakes in just the one and a half months of this tenant coming, where it went from the tenant being allowed into the house without even paying the full initial deposit to me giving her a one-month notice to vacate the property.
But here is the thing, I was continuously scared because I thought I made a wrong move. First, didn’t take a deposit before signing the agreement. Then a clause in the agreement that goes against the period. Bigger than that, my own panic and fear of such crazy situations. The last one froze me up, and I couldn’t even do my daily work. I had to deal with this situation.
I picked up my favorites, EFT and Ho’oponopono. Not to mention Lord Jesus Christ, the most cherished among all of them. 😉
The Root Causes | Here We Go
I have come to realize, after some years of habit, that I will slow down doing my regular work if I feel that I am facing an insurmountable problem. So, until the problem goes away or is solved, I just cannot remain calm and focus on other areas of my life. That’s what happened here, too. I had to resolve it to get rid of it once and for all.
And with that came multiple root causes. And they are root causes, not just another thought process. I am listing them out, and I will briefly explain afterwards.
I should not focus on work without solving the tenant problem. I should put all my focus on the tenant problem.
I cannot feel calm and at peace when the tenant problem is going on.
This tenant lies a lot. What if she lies about the contract and refuses to vacate?
This tenant lies a lot. What if she lies about the entire episode of asking to leave and creates a problem?
What if this tenant does not leave by the time she says she will leave? (Time commitment not met was a big issue for me.)
The tenant puts a case against me, and we have to battle it out in court. It is an unnecessary overhead
The above were the root causes that I faced. Now, you would say, how could these be root causes when I am listing out six of them? Well, the thing is, when I first started using energy exercise a week back, only problem 1 was the root cause for me feeling down. When I dealt with that and still felt unsure of the tenant issue, problem 2 surfaced. And then the other ones in sequence. It took me a week to handle them.
Best part, I am writing this article while the problem isn’t solved yet. This wouldn’t have been possible a week back because of root causes one and two. But handled well for now. Also, in all the root-cause handling, I put Jesus Christ as the one handling the problem, not me. That changes things, but imagine, despite that, I had six of them to deal with.

This is just one example where I had multiple root causes for the same problem. Now, I haven’t elaborated on each of the root causes, but what I wanted to show is that a single problem may have multiple root causes. In this case, it was also like peeling an onion. The root causes were like layers. When one got solved, the other one emerged. Then that got solved too. All in all, a good thing.
One other thing that I would leave the readers with is that you can also try to get into the habit of gratitude. That means, keep writing down or speaking out things that you are grateful for at regular intervals. In my case, I keep thanking God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit for all that they have done for me. This habit transforms our heart into a grateful one, and it is very difficult for a grateful heart to worry about a problem.
