"Imagine one day you’re sitting or Laying down ... minding your business ... working and completing your everyday task of submitting your Works from writing or design jobs you've completed to getting ready to be paid for jobs done, while organizing the next job in line to be. You are deep in thought, then all-of-a-sudden, out of nowhere, you are confronted by gang members in uniform called 'Police Officers', interrogated like you are a common criminal, accused of things that haven't happened yet or not as they are, and threatened in several different ways of being arrested, all for not accepting assistance you don't/didn't need."
-Nathaniel Hammel
This is what happened to me on Friday the 29th of May around noon.
As most videos recorded, most times there are parts you do not get to see, things such as you will wittness in my 1st video
bellow. The Sceane really started with 2 Police Officers (1 I knew a Park Ranger, and 2 his Sargent). The sargent Approched me and told me to pack up and leave the park because I was breaking park rules. I ask what rule, He respoinded saying that you cannot laydown on blankets or any under padding, that it is called 'Illigal Camping" ... an "Ordinance".
I began to try and inform these officers that that ordinance is against my constitutional rights! The Sargent proceeded with the Question of "Why are you homeless" I responded with "I am not Homeless" and I said the same thing that you will see me say again inside this 1st video. As I continued to stand up for my rights the Park ranger tells me "Nathan, please comply with my Sargent before you make thing worse for your self" I responded with "Wait ... how can I make things worse for myself if I have not committed a crime, what are you planning"? The Sargent stepped in a signaled for the park ranger to step aside, and then told me my answer: "If you do not accept my assistance I will call in others that will help you accept them." This is when I said loudly "I am going to record this and turned on my phones camera.** NOTE**: That the officer refused to repeat his statement with silence when I asked him to say what he said again for the camera.

I did not realize that my camera stopped recording. This is why: If you notice at the very end where the video stopped the Sargant began to circle me and as i tried to keep the camera on him and I accidently hit the stop record button NOTE: When a cop is circling you he is trying not only to upset and intimidate, but to distract you from what the other officers may do when you are looking away with both eye and camera.

Here is the thing ... Some Education for your mind ... Some Information that will help you when facing police in this way.
1st ... Try to stay as calm as you can be and stay seated on the ground (get on the ground if you are not already there), as you can see in the videos it is not easy to do.
2nd) Always record video and sound when cops approach you (do not take so long to record like I did here)
3rd ... Do not be afraid to speak your mind
4th ... Know all of your amendments (you do not always have to list them out to police officers who are there with you, just notify when you know as you can see I only named one amendment (remember that what you say can give time for the offence to strategize an attack to your defenses in a court room. The less you say the better)
These are the Rights you need to know about public spaces such as a Public Park
- Ordinances are not crimes (as you heard from the 2nd video)
- The 1st Amendment clearly states that: THE RIGHT TO FREELY AND PEACEFULLY ASSEMBLE IN PUBLIC SPACES
- The 14th Amendment Protects you from State and local governments from creating and/or enforcing laws that deprive us from our Liberty, Freedoms, and Property.
