There is a lot of talk about the $WOO token in the last weeks, but rarely see anything about the game mechanics. I think that is what will bring value to the $WOO token. So I want to fill this gap with this series!
I did a research on all the blogposts shared, listened to AMAs and asked also Bookerman a few questions to give you as much information as possible.
Articles will be created on:
This is the 1. article : Shows.
How to play WOO
Your wrestling organization can have:
- Wrestlers
- Managers
- Land plots
Just like the real wrestling organizations you will manage your people and your stadium/s.
Let's look at how you can earn some profit to improve your organization:
- Try to win Shows with your wrestler and manager NFT cards
- Own Land, where shows can be arranged. Earn dividends, when shows are organized on your Land. Improve your Land to earn even more.
- Create Promotions (Guilds) and manage them. Promotions can create Championship Titles as well, which the winning organization earns! If in a show the Champion Title is on stake, then the Promotion members receive dividends.
Shows
Entertain stadiums full of fans and provide a good show, that is what we are here for! What more could we ask for?
Shows can only be created on Land (More info will come in the Land blogpost). You will need to choose, which Land you would like to travel to (this might impact the rewards you get for a win) and search for a show. This will trigger a matchmaker routine in the background and you will be paired with another Organization looking out for a fight (the other Organization could be also in a different city).
After the matchmaking is done a Show is arranged.
The program of a Show
The program of a Show consists of 4 matches:
- 3 Undercard Matches for 1 winning point
- 1 Main Event for 2 winning points
The first Organization, who earns 3 winning points wins the Show. So to win a Show you need to either win 3 Undercard Matches or 1 Undercard Match and the Main Event.
The Undercard matches are always:
- 1 Male Single Match
- 1 Female Single Match
- 1 Tag Team Match
The Main event will be randomly chosen from the 3 available match types (Male Single/Female Single/Tag Team).
There can also be special rulesets on the Main event:
- Normal Match - Normal ruleset
- Dog Collar Match - Moves never miss
- Hardcore Match - Moves do 2x damage
- Cage Match - No managers
- First Blood Match - First to 0 health losses
- Iron Man Match - Wrestlers start with an additional 10 health
...more rulesets are in development.
How to win a match?
I think I was not the only one who started scratching his head on the First Blood Match ruleset. I mean why is it a Special Ruleset to win when your enemies health is on 0? Shouldn't this be the norm?
Well we are talking about wrestling, we don't want to bore the audience just by beating up each other. That is not why we are here! We want to deliver a show, so a Match can only be won with a highlight at the end!
Introducing Special Moves:
- Pinning Combinations
- Submissions
- Finishers
These are triggered after multiple consecutive successful attacks(number depends on the Wrestler). Even if they are triggered, the enemy still has a chance to evade a defeat, but the lower the health of the enemy the bigger the chance of a defeat.
We will get a bit deeper in this topic in the Wrestlers and Managers blogpost.
Budget
In each show there are some constraints on what the organizers can offer for the Organization for participation. That is why unfortunately we can't let our best wrestlers fight all the time. We need to stay in the Budget.
At the beginning of each show you will have a set Budget from which you are paying out the Wrestlers and a Manager for the fights. You will need to select at least 2 Wrestlers to compete (1 Undercard match + Main event, so you have a chance to win). Also the manager can only support 1 fight.
The budget will be randomized for each show.
In the future Gadget's are also planned, which will provide some benefits to the wrestlers. Though gadget sound very technical, we are actually talking about good old chairs, tables and anything you might find around or bring in the arena.... For inspiration, let's look into an article about the 10 craziest weapons used in Wrestling matches... https://www.thesportster.com/wrestling/wrestling-craziest-weapons/
A few more things to remember
For the real Wrestling feeling we need more surprises. So during the matches there are 2 more events, which might impact the outcome:
- Interference - In each Show you might replace your pre-selected wrestler with a different wrestler in one of the matches.
Surprise, Surprise! - Manager intervention - Some managers will have active skills. These skills have limited uses and after these were depleted the manager is elected from the fight ( = thrown out), so their passive bonuses stop working as well.
I mean just imagine your manager jumping in the ring, holding down your enemy while your wrestler brings in a few hits. Then the referee screams at the manager and throws him out of the stadium! Entertainment poor!
More on this in the Wrestlers and Managers post.
I don't know what you think, but this gives me real Wrestling vibes!
That is all on Shows today. Hope this gives you a better feel on how the game will look like. We will continue in a couple of days with the Wrestlers and Managers!
