We've all been there. Facing that rare opportunity to invest in a promising project, but we rarely find the courage to act. At least in time, that is. We may finally decide to pull the trigger, but the moment often comes too little, too late. At that point we can only look back and wonder what could have been. I've seen this happen so many times, not only to others, but myself as well.
Part of the beginning of change is realizing and seeing the issue in the first place. There have been times when excessive caution ruled the roost, which prevented me from being able to see clearly.
Last year for instance, I had a window where cash was available to purchase a thousand HIVE or even more LEO, but I decided to assist a family member with a troubled personal history instead. The funds provided to them were tossed down a black hole, by being used unwisely. That relative was involved in something that many of us were unaware of. Once we found out, we resolved to cease our participation with that person. This is something that we intend to never be caught up in again.
Growing in life means learning from your mistakes and becoming better for it. Now, I'm much more careful who in the family I help with my resources. As 'The Responsible One' I've learned that tough love is sometimes required. At this point though, I'm free from the binds which kept me from acting on that opportunity, and am ready to research then answer when the Goddess of Fortune knocks at my door.
lately, I've been slowly buying up income-producing assets such as tokens that provide a daily/weekly drip as well as potential price appreciation. The other thing I'm doing is to take a look at some of the rare Splinterlands cards, instead of just stocking up on the cheaper and more plentiful common cards.
Picked up an (expensive to me) Chaos Dragon card today, and hope it will increase in value over time. These are all bets I likely might not have made just a year ago, but now we're going to be much more proactive going forward.
They say fortune favors the bold, and that's going to be the new mantra heading into 2022. Caution and taking care has its place, but there comes a time when faced with a promising opportunity in our laps, we must act. I'm now starting to see the first fruits of that in my account in the form of a tiny faucet of HIVE springing forth each day. Dipping into that reserve from time to time, allows for even more account growth. I've a feeling that 2022 is going to be awesome! What do you think?
