I had the beautiful opportunity to be born in the city of Puerto Cabello of the Carabobo state, for things that are beyond my control and my mother's decisions in search of stability because she was a single mother, when I was 9 years old we undertook a journey of many changes, thank God positive, today I see it that way, but when I was nine years old when I had to leave my homeland it was painful to leave my family and live with totally unknown people, a town whose name I had not even heard and worse still I could not say no. My mother, my brother and I took a bus for a new adventure.

Cantaura is the place where I have lived for 25 years, I still remember that long journey, everything hurt and my brother fell asleep and woke up asking, are we there yet? About 20 times, until finally after twelve hours we arrived.

Cantaura is a beautiful city in this country, located specifically in the Anzoátegui state, it is the capital of the Pedro María Freites municipality, it is not very large in geographical area but it is in the quality of its people, small city but big in heart! Spanish is spoken here as throughout the country, among the nearby cities we have Mare Mare, Tascabañas and others where there are civilized and non-civilized indigenous peoples who speak Kariña and other indigenous languages; All those who know Cantaura do not want to leave and those who leave dream of returning, PAZ is something very important and we can have it here. We do not have a McDonald's but a "hunger street" where they sell all kinds of fast food and the neighbors usually gather to share a coffee at home, there is no Farmatodo but there is never a shortage of medicines because even a stranger does see I need help.

Cantaura is synonymous with Brotherhood, Love, Solidarity, empathy and all these important principles for a better life. It is the maximum, people are training and preparing themselves day by day and they strive to prevent children and young people from having an idle mind, that's why for many years they built many recreation places, such as multiple courts where they practice futsal, field soccer , basketball, kikimbol, tennis, baseball, softball, volleyball, swimming, karate and others, it is a city of athletes! In addition, an amphitheater where they train in the musical part both to read the performance of sheet music and to sing and master wind, string and percussion instruments.

Cantaura and its people are very diverse in religion, there are as many churches as liquor stores, in one house there are three Christians, two Catholics and a Santero, but they all respect each other, there is harmony! It is organized and clean, baptized as "The city that always shines" is impeccable, it has squares in each sector and the main one is Plaza Bolívar in honor of the Liberator of America.

Currently Cantaura is 279 years old, initially it was called Chamariapa, it has a beautiful entrance that is the obelisk, it is a symbolic expression of modernity and testimony of the first centenary of the change of name from Chamariapa to Cantaura, its central helmet still maintains old houses, with more than 100 years of construction, they are made of clay with wooden doors and windows, right there is the boulevard that has a beautiful fountain and there is the Catholic Church.

Cantaura and its patron saint fairs are the most famous in the state Anzoátegui, a fair park was built where more than 3,000 people enter and are celebrated in late January and early February, the day of the Virgen de la Candelaria is the 2nd of February. But since there is no active nightlife in this city, everyone goes to activities at fairs, both religious and carnal, in the religious they take the virgin to all sectors and do their services. There are bullfights, dog competitions, dairy cows, horse races, motocross, motorcycle exhibition, car audio, walks and at night national and international guests come, we have had the opportunity to enjoy Wisin y Yandel, Romeo, Olga Tañon, Maelo Ruiz, Chino and Nacho, among others, totally free. A day is dedicated to the llanero sunrise, where all night the llanera music singers sing their songs to delight people.

Cantaura and its food, oriental traditions are maintained, such as fish curd with rice, beans and casabe, the latter is generally eaten with everything, including tomato sauce, casabe is a biscuit-type cake made from cassava; Of the sweets the rice with coconut and milk. And to drink, the juice of papelon with lemon is to cool down because the climate is mild.

Cantaura and its relevant aspects are really many but I will only mention two:

1- 37 years ago an unrewarding event occurred that made this area of the country known, "The Cantaura Massacre" specifically on October 4, 1982, it was a group of guerrillas who formalized their camp in Los Changurriales, Cantaura sector, (I will be very precise since I don't like to give bad news very much), the State Security Forces carried out a classic combat operation where they ambushed the guerrillas both on the ground and in the air for two days, and the result of these attacks was 23 dead and several wounded. This happened and to date there are NO GUILTY and less THERE IS JUSTICE. The only thing there is every year is an activity called "Tribute to the fallen".

2- María Toledo, historical character also known as the Living Heritage of the city. Many people often tell her that "La loca del pueblo" is an old woman who for reasons unknown to me lost her son many years ago and this event caused a radical change. for his life, every day in the world he goes in search of his son, his face expresses much, much sadness, pain and a terribly deep look; the inhabitants always help him with food, clothing and most importantly, love.
