Welcome back to Starting a garden Post #29. Its been about a month since my last weekly garden update 🙄 My garden has really slowed down. Only a couple of pepper plants that are doomed to die with the next frost 🙁 And the brussel sprouts which are still filling out. We have had a couple batches of brussel sprouts and there are lots more still in garden.
And some marigolds that are hanging on.
I walked out to the garden this morning to take a few photos. The sun was just coming up through the trees.
The blueberry bushes leaves actually changed colors and put on a nice fall show 😁
The raspberries didn't produce this year but I think will have a good crop next year. You can also see the stakes and tomato cages lined up along the fence.
Two of our four beds are completely cleaned out.
The frost is finally getting the pepper plants. In fact, I harvested the remaining peppers today. The pepper plants we brought inside seem to be adapting to the move well 🤞
Here's our overgrown brussel sprouts bed. We did crop off the top finally but they were already huge.
We saw a small brussel sprouts stalk in Trader Joe's for $5. Based on those prices we grew maybe $100-200 of brussel sprouts 💰🤣
As I mentioned above, we have started cutting off some brussel sprouts and have already had two nice batches.
Now for what I've been doing to keep busy...
We started this rock wall in the spring and decided to extend it. I found some google maps images to show the development of the landscaping at the house we bought last year.

Here is a photo from around when the house was built. They cleaned up the front nicely when they put in the drive and big rock wall.

Here is the same view 7 years later 🙄 The second owner of the house let the yard go. Weeds and sumac took over. Although you can see the pine trees planted above the wall have been growing nicely.

Now to 2022 in the spring. We cleaned the ditch back out, planted a couple of cherry trees, and started a rockwall to put a boundary/corner on the yard.
my photo 🙂
Current photo. We extended the wall. You can see the pine trees are maturing on top of the big rock wall by the drive and now hide the house from the road. Fun to go from the original photo 10 years ago to now.
Thanks for checking out my post 👍 Have a great week!
