All animals in the neighborhood pricked up their ears .
As if out of nowhere,
an ugly,
no an ukle,
an ukele,
an ukelele sound,
had taken over the airwaves.
It appeared to be coming from Hypersensitivosaurus' cave.
It was beautiful
in all its ukele(le)ness.
The beasts paused
whatever they were doing
to just feel the vibe
and to let go of all their worries, their fears and regrets.
This mindful moment lasted for a couple of seconds
Until
a
Panggggggggggggg!
was followed by the friendliest of curses
Arrrghhhh!!
Hypersensitivosaurus had broken a string on his newly acquired ukulele.
There were now only 3 strings left, half the amount of a normal guitar.
He realized that he probably needed to start filing his nails again.
And, if you know him a little, you would be aware of the terror and anxiety that nail filing invoked in him. The horror!
Razorsharp nails might be good for a lot of things
but not for playing mini guitars.
In case you missed that backstory, here's two write ups from May 2021 and June 2020 shedding some light on supersensitive raptors and their love-hate relationship with nail filing.
No More Football for Hypersensitivosaurus
Why Some Raptors Need to File their Nails
Today's short story was inspired by me buying an ukulele a week ago ( as shared in my previous write up The Day I Bought myself an Ukulele aka Not a Midlife Crisis.
Today I felt like I should incorporate this cute, little instrument in my Hypersensitivosaurus stories, one way or another. Let this be the start of that.
To get back to the ukulele playing itself,
it's tough.
I have played almost daily
and, although I am happy with the lessons that I acquired, it feels like my hands can't keep up with the speed that my brain would love to improve with. Or, to put that differently, I am probably a little too impatient.
Aside from that, 2 years of old fashioned classic guitar lessons ( eventhough they took place 20+ years ago ) are popping up in my brain and muscle memory, but this little instrument is an entirely different beast. I have gone from 6 to 4 strings and from e,b,g,d,a,e to a,e,c,g. It's confusing as h*ll but, in all honesty, it's a lot of fun too and I like a good challenge :<)
Also, unlike Hypersensitivosaurus in the above story, I haven't broken any strings.
Please bear dino with me. Although this hasn't been the case with the guitar, I plan to master this cute instrument one day, sooner rather than later.
