As SteemReply becomes more and more popular, I continue my work to regularly add new features to this useful application.
Manage your settings
If you click on the hamburger button on the right of the toolbar,
you will see I added a setting entry in the menu:
This will display a small popup window where you can manage the few settings I added up to now. I will add more manageable items later.
1. Define your favorite Steem client
The first settings allow you to define which client Steemreply will use when you click on a link in the application (avatars, links to posts or comments, your profile, ...)
Steemit(.com) is the default client but you’re of course free to choose another one.
SteemReply currently support Steemit, @steempeak and @busy. If your favorite client is missing from the list, feel free to contact me to add it.
2. Define how mentions are searched.
By default, SteemReply uses “lazy” mode to search for mentions, meaning it simply search the comment or post content for any match with your user name, whether it is prefixed with an “@” or not.
While this generates an exhaustive search, the drawback is that it may trigger erroneous “mentions”. Let’s say your username is @steem, SteemReply will then consider any of the following text as a mention:
- go to steemit.com
- I use eSteem as a desktop client
- I play SteemMonsters
As you can see, depending on the username you choose, the mentions search result might not be appropriate.
The workaround is to activate the “strict” search mode. Not only will it be faster, but more accurate and it will only match your “prefixed” username, i.e. @steem
Do not forget to click the Save button to activate your new settings.
