I met J Bradley O when he contacted me after watching my short film UnBelieve: Stories of Uncovering Beliefs & Overcoming Limitations, looking to see if we could collaborate.
J suffered abuse at pivotal moments in his childhood and is on a lifelong journey of healing. He overcame addiction, and is working through PTSD trauma, finding his power through sharing and bringing attention to the reality of male sexual victimization.
In UnBelieve, we talk about negative emotional events from our childhood that became the limiting beliefs that were holding us back in adulthood. What we experienced was destructive to our sense of self. But what about children who experience sexual abuse? How do they even begin to work through their traumas? This is something I have wondered for a long time and exploring this through J’s story is an important way to clear up misunderstandings about sexual trauma and it’s after effects, particularly for male survivors whose stories often go untold.
In this film, J revisits his painful past and unpacks it, from family influences to his experiences in school, up until the moment he is in a recovery group and has the realization of his life that unlocks the key to healing.
Please feel free to share this film to help J spread awareness about the unfortunate prevalence of sexual abuse in our society, and the importance of confronting the past to heal wounds and move forward with understanding and acceptance.
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and engage with this film.
