Introduction
I'm back again with my post for the #threetunetuesday playlist which is a contest hosted by @ablaze. Today, I will feature my part 3 for Chinese songs! The songs I chose are randomly chosen from my Chinese playlist and if it happened to be a song I covered before than I would skip it. Anyways I hope you enjoy the songs.
You can check out past ones here.
Part 1
Part 2
#1. 星光降落 (Starlight Landing) - 王宗介 (Wang Zong Jie)
The first song randomly chosen was Starlight Landing by Wang Zong Jie. This singer isn't that famous and this song is actually probably his most well known song. I like this song because it's a simple song with a nice melody. The singer has a nice soft voice and the lyrics are very sweet.
The song is about falling in love. There is a lot of figure of speech in this song. Starlight landing in the eyes basically means that person is all they can see. "Stars send me an anonymous letter" could mean that the way the girl is looking at him basically gives off the feeling that she likes him. "Flying a blue sky" could mean taking the chance of being happy together. When we think of a blue sky it's a pleasant and happy day as opposed to a cloudy grey sky.
#2. 你不知道的事 (All the Things You Never Knew) - 王力宏 (Wang Leehom)
The second song chosen was All the Things You Never Knew - Wang Leehom. This is a fairly famous Chinese singer. He's definitely more well known than the previous singer. This song is more towards that emo feeling and you can feel it in the chorus of this song as well as the background music.
The song is about a guy leaving a girl. He actually didn't want to leave her but he had some reasons he had to leave her. You can see in the lyrics in a part of the chorus that it hurts the guy to let go of her because after seeing her cry it felt like a piercing to his heart. It was never really said the reason why he left in the lyrics but I came up with one possible scenario that could've happened. This could be a situation where the guy found out he had a terminal illness where he was pretty much guaranteed to die in the future. Since he knew he was going to die, he didn't want the girl to get heartbroken if he died so he decided to leave her. I feel like I would also do the same thing if I was in that situation. I wouldn't want the person to stay with me if I knew I was going to die; I'd want them to move on and find somebody else.
#3. 打勾勾 (Pinky Swear) - 李千娜 (Nana Lee)
Finally, the last song chosen is Pinky Swear by Nana Lee. Nana Lee is a pretty well known Taiwanese singer. She's actually also an actress; one of the dramas I enjoyed that she was acting in was called Age of Rebellion. Anyways this song is a sad song. You can feel it in the voice and the melody.
The song is about a couple breaking up. The girl feels like it's a mistake. It's not that she didn't love him but there seemed to be a lack of compromise. Sometimes in relationships it's difficult if both parties are stubborn. Someone has to take that imitative to give in and be the first to speak up especially when it's in that period of "I'm not talking to you". The girl recalls the past and wish they tried harder to make it work out. This is where the promise comes in in the lyrics. She wished they promised to each other to not give up so easily and to not be a part too long. At the end of the song, she accepts that it's happened and wishes to the guy and to herself all the best for their future.
