When I opened my Hive feed this morning I saw a photo of a beautiful sunset (or sunrise?) inviting me to click through to the post authored by @snook. In the second paragraph she writes these words that hit home. They could have been written by me:
I, too, get upset when others cut themselves down with words. It upsets me that people find it okay to see themselves in a negative light when I know them to be filled with love.
OMG how I hate it when people do this to themselves. It is hurtful to them and to those surrounding and loving them. I know because one of my sisters has a tendency to do this and it upsets me every.single.time. When I try to correct her I quickly learn a) there's just no discussing it with her which, of course, b) just makes me even madder.
And this feeling of helplessness made me want to write this post for Snook's contest which is challenging us to re-introduce ourselves only using positive words about ourselves.
Thankfully, Snook has prepared four questions to help us talk about ourselves. And I sure can use this help! So, here goes
My re-introduction post to Hive
Come to think of it, I actually, never did an intro post to Hive. I only did one on the legacy chain. But that's o.k. I'm still the same person (mostly) and the intro post can still be found way, way down on my blog should anyone be interested. No photo of me, though, in case you were wondering.
On to Snook's questions...
a. Where are you the happiest?
Physically where - I am happiest when I am at an ocean beach with no or very few other people around.
Figuratively speaking, my happiest times are when I am in my zone. The zone of creating art which can be in front of my computer or with my iPad on said beach or on our house's deck or in my cc corner (creative corner) where I am surrounded by my non-digital art supplies and art books.
b. What positive traits can you bring to a team?
Once I commit to being part of a team
I am a team player par excellence
I love helping lesser experienced teamies with my knowledge
I am loyal to a fault
I lead a team if I see it necessary or sit back and listen - as needed
I think creatively and love to improvise (especially when cooking - LOL) if required
I am good at organizing
I am honest - I have a hard time lying, even bending the truth is tough for me, you know e.g. when you're asked to critique a photo, artwork, etc.
c. What is something positive about you that some might see as negative?
I observe and listen (a lot) before I speak up - it makes me seem unapproachable to people who don't know me
I am strong-willed - most of the time I am pretty relaxed and laissez-faire but if something tickles me - I can and will make myself heard
I am just - sounds negative, right? - but what I mean is that I will always strive to do the right thing. e.g. I get pretty mad if I see non-team players abusing other team members' goodwill.
I am honest - I know I used that above already but to be honest can be seen as harsh especially if you are not talking/writing in your native language
d. What has been/is your favorite positive surprise about Hive?
My initial surprise was that I was being paid to blog, this sounds lame but it's true. Now I almost couldn't care less about the $$ but am constantly surprised about Hive's diversity. There are people here from all over the globe, all walks of life, all ages, etc. writing content as diverse as our Earth is. It is amazing!
Oh, and another surprise? Since I met my hubby we have been playing video games here and there together but I would have never, ever thought that I'd like online card games - turns out I enjoy playing Splinterlands, go figure...
Hive has replaced all almost all other mainstream social media for me. While I still have my (FB, IG, etc.) accounts, etc. the only one I am using a little is Twitter. And that is usually to tweet my Hive activities to the world.
There you have it, I answered all of Snook's questions openly and honestly. And I hope I didn't scare you away and you read till the end. If you did - yay - here are a few selected photos of the kind of beaches I was talking about answering the first question.
Oh, and if you'd like to know what the un-lazy is about - go and read Snook's post!
Have a great rest of your day!
Cheers,
