I am Out of Shape: Three decades in the Making
Three decades ago, I was in relatively good shape. Regularly, I worked out at the gym, rode my bike, and jogged. When watching TV I did a sit up or push up for every minute of television I watched.
Fast forward three decades, over the years, I did none of the above. As a result, my chest has gotten flat, my waist has expanded, I have lost lots of muscle mass, and I have replaced it with at least 20 pounds of fat.
So, what happened? Here are some of my excuses. I am busy. I don’t have the time. I have just eaten. I will do it next week. I am okay. I am not out of shape.
Recently, I read a post by Amy. She probably didn’t wait for three decades to pass. To get in shape, she decided to run at least 1 mile a day for 100 days regardless of weather. Through all of this she experience increased energy, etc.
I was inspired, but I decided to start a whole lot smaller.
For the next 100 days, I will commit to do at least 1 push up and 1 sit up. That’s it. This should take less than 1 minute to complete. I will do the 1 a day challenge regardless as to how I feel, unless I am medically unable to do it.
If you don’t exercise regularly, I would like you and 1,000 people to join me in the 1 a day challenge. It is only a day.
In 100 days, I will report on my exercise status. It will be interesting to see how I feel after 100 days of this 1 a day initiative.
