Again, participation in our Blog of the Month was a little down with 14 entries, two of which didn't qualify nor did two from the team, for a prize. If you need reminding of the theme and the rules, check out the announcement post.
But first
We send healing wishes to @coquicoin who has been unwell. I'm sure she'll be back on her feet and on Hive, soon.
Now, the usual bit of housekeeping: the number of Silver Bloggers has jumped in the last month and magically surpassed the 1,500 number so we now have 1,546 subscribers! This community would not be what it is without all of you!
As always - a thank you
To everybody who contributes to making this a fun community and especially to our delegators. The value of delegations to the community account has dropped a little, but that's ok. We understand that folk need to spread the love, and we also get that charity begins at home: you do what you need to do with your Hive. That said, we remain ever grateful for your having shared it with us. Remember, each delegation adds value to the Mother account's vote.
In August, we put our money where our mouths are, and in this post reminded you how we use your delegations and how we say thank you to our delegators.
The team's contribution
This month, there were two team contributions
@coquicoin's heartfelt blog especially to her son... From my School of Life to my Son
I would tell him to never stop pursuing his dreams no matter how difficult they may seem. One life lesson I learned from him is that no matter how unattainable a goal may seem if there is even the slightest chance of achieving it, it is worth the effort. He proved that to me himself and he should remember that always.
@lizelle shared lessons as part of her legacy to future generations in Letter to my Children's Children
You of course will learn new lessons as you step through life with its' ups and downs, but the secret is to cherish the good times, learn from the bad experiences, and not carry that baggage for the rest of your life. They belong to the ash heaps of yesterday, always remember that!
The business end
Since last month, and with help from @lizelle's hubby who developed a weighting system for the votes at first, second and third place, as well as special mentions, we have a more objective system for picking prize winners.
Special mention
@amberkashif shared a touching Letter to my Children
Something that makes life easier is to learn the art of letting go. Everything that has been birthed have an expiry date. The more you detach yourself from materialism, the more peace will abound you. It is of no use to mourn over the things that you have lost. Your mourning won’t bring it back. Move on. You will find, there is a lot more and sometimes even better awaiting for you.
Runners up
@bozz shared some golden nuggets in Lessons for my Children
Even though @mrsbozz and I don't have kids of our own, we have a dog, nieces and nephews that we love to spoil, and friends with kids that we treat like our own...
Instead of spending your money on those things that will come and go, instead invest your money in experiences. Go on that trip, go to that concert. You have plenty of time to make money when you are older. Your key focus right now should be on making memories.
@joanstewart shared pearls of wisdom in Small Way Big Difference
Happiness far outweighs wealth once we accept not all will be leaders or exceptionally rich financially, wealth comes in many guises.
Winning post
@owasco's poignant farewell letter to her Grandchildren with advice on how to Make Good Choices
If you are reading this, I have already left my earthly form...
'Set clear ethical boundaries' - wisdom from her uncle Niko.
When times are tough, and you will have tough times, look for opportunities. Strife uncovers paths you could not see before your struggles began. Do not follow ANY guidance that does not feel right to you, especially if your ethical boundaries have to be crossed.
