In my last post, published July 3, 2021 I talked about some of the things you can do when you need solitude. Today's post will be a continuation of that post, but this time, I will be sharing my view on some of the benefits of solitude, I did point out in my last post that I will visit this part of this topic. A quick recap on my last post prior to the topic SOLITUDE.
š Solitude does not necessarily cause loneliness. Even in the company of others, one can still be lonely.
š You having that feeling that no one is there for you when you need them is the feeling of loneliness.
š Solitude is more of a choice, a decision you make on your own to be alone in other to know more about yourself. It's more of a time you dedicate to yourself alone.
š Some of the things you can do when you want to spend time with yourself include; meditating, writing in a journal, setting goals, reflecting on those goals and you paying more attention to yourself.
You can read more about the first part of this post HERE.
Today's post will focus more on some of the benefits one get from solitude. Having quality time with yourself has it's benefits, it is very good for your mental health and personal growth if you learn how to spend some time alone.
THE BENEFITS OF SOLITUDE
There are several benefits you can get from solitude, even though we know the best benefit is that, you get to learn more about yourself.
š The number one benefit and like I said it's actually the most important benefit, solitude allows you to learn more about yourself. We live in a world filled with different people hence different opinions about things tend fly around, people see and understand things differently, but you being able to pull yourself out of the crowd to make one or two decisions on your own, you must have listened to your own opinion. Solitude allow us to have great conversations with ourselves, even though we are allowed to seek opinions from other persons, you seeking opinion from yourself before doing some things, will help make things easy for you. You can only communicate with yourself when you create some alone time with yourself and when you do this, you get to know and understand yourself better.
š Apart from you getting to know yourself more, solitude helps you to be more comfortable with yourself. The moment you start connecting more with yourself and you begin to ignore how others try to influence you or your thought, you begin to have more confident in yourself and even become more comfortable with yourself. It is important to be confident of yourself because this will influence the decisions you take and will also determine how you shape your life.
š Spending time with yourself helps to enhance your creativity. Most of my best ideas became clear to me when I was spending time with myself. Solitude allows you to explore your creative imagination, it helps you reflect on things and how they should be. Lately, I have been applying enough personal time to my lifestyle, and I must say it has been really helpful. Your creative imagination comes to life when you are able to connect well with yourself, reflect on every single thing, allow your mind to wander around the idea so you can see different ways to get it done. So many persons have just one way to solve a problem because they don't always connect with themselves to find other ways.
š Another benefit that solitude brings is that, it provides you with the opportunity to plan your life very well. What happen when you have a presentation to present at work, you prepare and even plan how the presentation would look like right? We plan for almost everything we do on a daily basis, but most persons forget to take out time to plan their lives. These past months, I must confess has been some of the best months of my life, did you just ask why in your mind? Well, I'd tell you, that's because I have been taking full control of my life, not living in anyone's shadow, doing everything I do because I decide to do it. I have been planning so much and also I have been achieving each of those plans. Spending time with myself of late has change so much for me, in the coming year, I will be 27 years, and when my mind throw some questions at me, I told myself I have to shape my life more. I write down how I want my life to look like when I'm 30 years old, and for some months now, that's the goal I have been working to achieve and each one I achieve, I strike it off the list and I'm glad with the outcome so far. I don't think I would have been able to express this feeling if I had not connected with myself in the first place, solitude really provided an opportunity for me to plan my life.
š Happiness is good for everyone and that's because it's good for our mental state. Solitude helps to improve your mental well-being. When you find comfort in solitude, connecting more with yourself, allowing your mind to connect well with you, you begin to find more happiness and your stress level will reduce. So many persons talk about facing depression, and that's as a result of their mind fighting a battle, stressed from the things they are going through. But when you find time to be alone, let your mind stay calm and just relax, allowing yourself to connect with your thought, then you will begin to find happiness once again, which is very good for your health.
RUMI said, Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
Take time to connect with your mind, reflect on your life and how to better shape it. You can get the best ways to shape your life when you actually embrace solitude. You can't change the world if you stay the same. You are your own world, the next man is his own world, the world becomes what you define it it be. If my world is shaped properly and you also shape your world too, everyone out there connect with themselves also and shape their own world, then we all will have one world that will be a better place. Solitude is the key to higher self realization, and once you have that, you can experience the best changes in your life. Spend more time with yourself and change your life today.
