The Snacks!
Today we had 5 different varieties of fried snacks - Mauritians love fried stuffs a lot, yeah I know it is not healthy...but this is the eating culture here!
So on this plate we have :
Corn and cheese halfmoon / Beef Samosas / Chicken Tikka / Cheese balls!
Spicy tomato chutney to enjoy these snacks!
And the 5th one was like a chicken croquette, got it from my nephew!
Soup!
My wife had her Harira Soup accompanied with some Chebakia, dates and Almond Briwat!
The main event!
Quite some nice stuffs for a Sunday Iftaar on the main side!
The first one was Chicken and Almond Bastella! - A Moroccan classic made by my wife, it is like a meat pie, very crispy with the filo like dough, with some sweet notes of icing sugar and cinammon!
Fish filet in garlic butter!
I made this one together with some pumpkin gratin!
I got some nice fish filet couple of days back, named 'Sacrechien' - white soft flesh, very delicious indeed!
I shared the recipe of pumpkin gratin couple of days back, if you want you can check it out here!
The 3 little ramequins are the pumpkin gratin actually!
Salad and Fruits
A nice mixed salad bowl with a mustard and honey vinaigrette to accompany the mains!
We had some red plums and sugar plums in the fridge since couple of days...it was time to eat them up today!
Oh how sweet they were...specially the sugar plums, which come from South Africa!
Drinks!
As usual my milk tea was present, Moroccan mint tea too!
Then we had some Orange juice and water from my Hive water bottle!
The red thing in the bowl is Strawberry Jelly made with agar agar from my mum!
I put some chocolate on the table too(Bounty!), specially for my daughter!
Here she is...enjoying the pumpkin gratin before attacking the chocolate!Lol!
My favorite of the day was without any doubt...The fish in garlic butter sauce!
Here's my plate of fish with the mixed salad!
And just like that...my 5th Iftaar table post is over!
I hope this post made you hungry!Lol!
If you like it, please do share it!
See you tomorrow for the 6th one!
