Mindfulness and multitasking sound two opposite things. Because mindfulness comes with a visual that we have to be focused, calm, and present at the moment. While multitasking requires to be more at everything, not just a single task. That's why it will seem crazy if I say we can multitask while being mindful.
Being present is the first rule of being mindful. You have to focus on your surroundings, what is happening inside, and out, what you are thinking about, what you are actually doing, and what you are feeling. We have a misconception about multitasking and mindfulness both. Multitasking doesn't mean we have to be everywhere or our mind has to be scattered. We can still stay focused and do several things at a time.
We can do tasks simultaneously. But we have to approve that there is a chance to undertake one task over another. Because we are not a machine. We can't focus the same on different tasks. It's possible to experience and accomplish many things at once. But the experience of 'fulfillment' will be lost. If you choose to be mindful we can achieve the feeling of fulfillment in every task.
Be mindful so that you can focus, be present on what you are doing. It will help you to decide and understand what to prioritize and whatnot, how to achieve that. It will help you to not let your mind scattered in pieces during multitasking. There's no clash with multitasking and mindfulness.
Like, if you are doing something on the computer, reading a newspaper at the same time. You are multitasking. Now being mindful will help you to focus more on both!
I always believe we can actually achieve more by being mindful. but I do have to say that the joy of fullness comes from mindfulness and that why being mindful can help us achieve more and do multitask!
