Ruleset Focus

In this week's Battle Mage Secrets, we shine a spotlight on the often overlooked ruleset called the HEAVY HITTERS
.
Under the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset, all units gain the KNOCK OUT
ability, allowing them to deal double damage to STUNNED
enemies. To maximize the benefits of this ruleset, it is recommended to include a unit with the KNOCK OUT
ability in your lineup to trigger the STUN
effect.

KNOCK OUT
and STUN
complement each other perfectly. When a Monster equipped with the
STUN
ability attacks, there is a chance to STUN
the opponent, causing them to skip their next turn. In turn, the KNOCK OUT
ability allows for double damage when striking a STUNNED
enemy, maximizing the impact of the attack 😵STUN

ruleset is in play! Get ready to unleash their power! 👊

The Battle
While performing my daily grind for the season in my alt account, jimbei, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's start by examining the ruleset implemented in this battle. Firstly, we have the primary focus of this challenge, the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset, which has been thoroughly discussed earlier. Following that, we have the Healed Out ruleset, which eliminates all healing capabilities from Monsters and Summoners. Lastly, the Tis but Scratches ruleset provides all units with the Cripple ability. The battle enforces a mana restriction of 38 and restricts the use of only the Water and Dragon Splinter.

Summoner, Kelya Frendul
Given the restriction of using either the Water or Dragon Splinters in this ruleset, I had to choose between Kelya Frendul or Quix The Devious as my Summoner. Considering the mana cap of 38, I decided to go with the Water Splinter and selected Kelya Frendul. The monsters from the Dragon Splinters tend to require more mana, making Kelya Frendul a more suitable choice. Its beneficial buffs of +1 Speed and +1 Armor are always advantageous ✌️

First Position, Djinn Oshannus
Normally, I would choose Baakjira as my tanker when using the Water Splinter. However, in this battle with the Healed Out ruleset, Baakjira loses its Heal ability, which significantly reduces its durability. As a result, I decided to go with Djinn Oshannus instead. With its well-rounded stats and abilities like Void and Phase, Djinn Oshannus can be elusive and challenging for enemies to hit. Moreover, its Forceshield ability greatly reduces incoming damage of 5 or more to just 1, providing excellent protection 😁

Second Position, Flying Squid
I strategically positioned the Flying Squid in the second position to take advantage of its Reach ability, allowing it to attack from that position. If Djinn Oshannus were to be defeated, the Flying Squid could move up to the first position and serve as a dependable tanker. Its Backfire ability inflicts 2 damage on enemies who miss when attacking the Flying Squid, and the Blind ability increases the likelihood of enemies missing their target 😤

Third Position, Deeplurker
Including the Deeplurker in my lineup when utilizing the Water Splinter is almost an assured choice. This monster is highly potent with its Opportunity ability, swiftly eliminating the opponent's most vulnerable creature. Additionally, the Deeplurker possesses the ability to Poison its target, which can be deadly once inflicted. In addition to its destructive capabilities, it also boasts the Demoralize ability, imposing a -1 Melee attack debuff on the enemy team 😵

Fourth Position, Pelacor Bandit
Pelacor Bandit stands out as an exceptional low-cost monster in the game. With a mere mana cost of 3, it possesses impressive stats of 4 Melee attack, 6 Speed, and 5 Health. Its Flying ability adds to its resilience, making it challenging for Melee and Ranged attackers to land hits on the Pelacor Bandit. Additionally, its Sneak ability proves invaluable in team setups, allowing it to swiftly eliminate weaker enemy backline units 😝

Fifth Position, Igor Darkspear
Igor Darkspear plays a vital role in my lineup, particularly in this challenge featuring the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset. To effectively demonstrate the terrifying effects of this ruleset, it is crucial to have a monster that can first STUN
the enemy. That's why Igor Darkspear holds such significance in this setup, with its ability to STUN
opponents. Similar to the Pelacor Bandit, Igor Darkspear is an exceptional low-cost monster that is frequently used 😜

Last Position, Wave Brood
Wave Brood proves to be a dependable backline tank in my lineup, thanks to its impressive health pool and inherent abilities such as Void and Return Fire. By utilizing Wave Brood's Taunt ability, I can redirect all incoming attacks towards it, granting me greater control over the battle and ensuring the safety of my backline monsters, allowing them to unleash their devastating attacks 👊
The Analysis

In this battle, I had the perfect opportunity to fully demonstrate the power of the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset. However, seizing this opportunity required a stroke of luck to effectively utilize the ruleset's potential. As previously mentioned, the HEAVY HITTERS
ruleset grants all monsters the KNOCK OUT
ability, which can only be activated by first STUNNING
the target monster.
Fortunately, luck was on my side in this battle as Igor Darkspear successfully STUNNED
the enemy with most of its attacks. This allowed the subsequent monsters in my lineup to inflict double the normal damage on the STUNNED
target. With these amplified damages, the battle quickly came to an end, overwhelming the opponent with their devastating impact 😅
