Based on the presently available information, the introduction of Rebellion brings forth a plethora of new elements to the game. As is customary with any new release, acclimating to the inclusion of new Monster cards necessitates some time as it shifts the dynamics of battles. However, beyond these new Monster cards, there are also forthcoming introductions such as New Abilities, Multi-Element Summoners, and Summoner Tactics. Here's a quick overview of some of these changes.
New Abilities
Multi-Element Summoners & Summoner Tactics
To be honest, grappling with the simultaneous introduction of all these modifications can be rather daunting. Therefore, the arrival of Rebellion is sure to bring about a substantial transformation in the way battles are waged, potentially rendering our established strategies less effective 😕
Ability Focus
Without any delay, let's jump right into the subject I want to dive into for this week's Social Media Challenge post, which is presented in a fresh format, focusing on the imminent arrival of the Rebellion edition. This post will primarily revolve around the CORROSIVE WARD
ability among the four newly introduced abilities!
Corrosive Ward
As specified in the Splinterlands team's information, when a unit that possesses this ability is struck by a Melee attack, it inflicts 2 damage to the attacker's Armor and decreases the attacker's maximum Armor by 2. This ability acts as a natural counter to the Repair ability, as you can't repair something that has been corroded into acidic substance! It's important to note that this effect exclusively impacts units equipped with Armor.
Here are some of the obvious traits that this ability would have:
Corrosive Ward is a passive ability that would only be activated upon being hit by a Melee attack
Corrosive Ward ability would only work against a Monster with Melee attack and has Armor stats
Corrosive Ward ability WOULD BE USEFUL in the Armored Up ruleset
Corrosive Ward ability WOULD NOT BE ACTIVATED in the below rulesets for obvious reasons
From my understanding of the mechanics behind the CORROSIVE WARD
ability, it appears to operate in a fashion reminiscent of two well-known abilities: Cripple and Thorns.
Much like the Cripple ability, which results in a reduction of a Monster's maximum Health, the CORROSIVE WARD
ability, instead, diminishes a Monster's maximum Armor. This reduction has the potential to significantly weaken a Monster's defensive capabilities over time.
Additionally, the CORROSIVE WARD
ability also shares similarities with the Thorns ability, which activates only when the affected Monster receives a Melee attack. However, instead of causing damage to an attacker's Health, the CORROSIVE WARD
ability inflicts harm to their Armor stats.
Understanding these parallels between the CORROSIVE WARD
ability and these other existing abilities is essential for devising effective strategies in battles when called upon in battles.
Have you ever faced off against that frustrating lineup where your opponent appears invulnerable, with their persistent Armor and the constant regeneration of their shields through the Repair ability? I'm referring to the formidable strategy employed by players playing in the higher leagues using the Life Splinter. This strategic powerhouse is typically led by none other than the legendary Summoner, Chanseus The Great!
The CORROSIVE WARD
ability has the potential to undermine the effectiveness of this strategy significantly. As the battle progresses, the maximum Armor stats of the defending units are gradually reduced, rendering the Repair ability useless when there's no Armor left to restore once the maximum stat reaches zero.
Then again, it is worth noting that with the introduction of the Rebellion Edition featuring the CORROSIVE WARD
ability, this particular strategy, often spearheaded by Chanseus The Great, will no longer be available to players competing in the Modern League due to the phasing out of the Untamed Edition 😂
What do you guys think about the CORROSIVE WARD
ability? Am I understanding it correctly? 😅
