This weeks Battle Mage Challenge is about the Unprotected rule.

Splinterlands tells us the follwing about the Unprotected rule:
All armor is removed from units and one cannot gain armor.
Shield and Divine Shield are unaffected.
Unprotected gives an advantage to melee and ranged based teams. Magic setups will do the same damage as usual, but generally have lower damage than ranged and melee teams, because armor usually balances those.
Enrage is a very strong ability in this rule. Not only does it trigger more easily, there is also no armor to counter the massive damage that enraged melee units can deal. For this reason, Skargore is a great summoner for this rule.

Incompatible Rules

Unprotected is incompatible with Weak Magic and Armored Up

Desirable Abilities

( Enrage, Inspire, Demoralize, Headwinds, Shield )

As already stated, Enrage is a very powerful ability to include in this rule. Other than that, its useful to bring abilities that increase or decrease melee and ranged damage.

My Battle : Unprotected battle
My battle had the following configuration: Wild Diamond league. 50 mana, rules: Unprotected, Up to Eleven, Odd Ones Out. Splinters: Water, Dragon, Fire.
This battle has a quite limited set of cards that are playable/useful. Only three splinters available, and Odd Ones Out as one of the rules. For both Odd Ones Out and Even Stevens, dragon summoners are pretty attractive because their larger card pool makes them less limited by the odd/even mana requirement.

Battle progress and Result
Going into this, I'm not quite sure who has the advantage here. The Coeurl Lurker can be an annoying tank, but then again I have the Runic Skyclaw which is a pretty great counter to it because of its high speed and Giant Killer. The other issue is the Shield and Enrage that Kulu Mastermind has.
Round one starts by Runic Skyclaw taking a massive 10 damage strike on the Coeurl, followed by the Pelacor Bandit hitting it for 4. So its already down to 2 health. Unfortunately, my Void Dragon misses. The opponent's Bandit almost kills my Skyclaw in a single hit, but it barely survives. My Kulu finishes the Couerl, but it is resurrected, and proceeds to dodge the hit from the Nerissa too. Fortunately for me though, my Skyclaw is able to dodge both the Kulu and Uraeus, and afterwards, my Carnage Titan finishes the Couerl and takes a hit on the Kulu too.
The start of round 2 is like this:
Skyclaw attacks the Meerdaali, my Bandit Strikes the other Bandit and then Void Dragon hits the Kulu, who becomes enraged. The next hit by the Kulu will be massive, and he can potentially trample and deal a lot of damage to my Titan, but fortunately he misses. Then the opponent's Bandit kills my Skyclaw.
Further, my Kulu kills the Merdaali Guardian, and my Carnage Titan hits one of the two strikes on the Kulu Mastermind. Finally, Uraeus hits and Poisons Nerissa, and Void Dragon dodges the magic attack from River Helondale.
In round 3, my Bandit kills the other Bandit, Void Dragon deals a little damage to the Kulu, but then the Kulu strikes and kills the Void Dragon, and tramples onto the Carnage Titan. Fortunately, the Shield takes off enough of the damage and the Titan lives with 1 health. Then my Kulu kills the opponent's Kulu, and Nerissa takes most of River's health. Finally, my Carnage titan kills River, and deals some damage to Uraeus. Uraeus makes a good last attempt, killing the Carnage Titan and trampling onto the Bandit, but misses.
Round 4 only contains the final blow which is dealt by my Pelacor Bandit.
