Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Winning Through Opponents' Mistakes

Time flies! Just completed the 55th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 6 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

We Got 2nd!!

So for the final result, we got 2nd out of 10 guilds and got 862 Merits and around 12 SPS!

Individually, I had 6 fights this time and only won 5 this time! Am back to my winning ways and finished 3rd within the guild! Extremely happy with my personal performance.

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Gorth

A triple ruleset including Back To Basics. This was a mouthful to absorb and strategise as this meant Gladius cards won't have Bloodlust. I couldn't rely on my trusty Sea Monster because it will not have self heal so I called upon another strong 1v1 card, which is Gorth. My opponent's lineup puzzled me totally though. Why does he need a summoner with Conscript ability when Gladius cards are already allowed for brawls? And he is filling a Magic card when there is Magic Reflect? Then again, I guessed it's probably due to "stress" factor, which I sometimes also struggle to think properly when the 3 minute is ticking away.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

Another triple ruleset with Back To Basics again! This time I called upon my newly rented summoner Astral Entity for assistance. Unfortunately, the Revive didn't help much except just one turn of delay and Dodge wasn't applicable against my opponent's Magic lineup. In the end, I won by sheer damage output and a superior HP. Rare but well deserved MVP for Dhampir Stalker who dealt the most damage.

Battle 3 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: None

Another triple ruleset! No Neutral cards, only Magic cards, no Legendary cards... I was totally out of depth for this battle as I didn't have a wide range of Magic cards for Earth which was the only logical choice because of Obsidian. Lost out in this battle due to my weak lineup.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Cutter Brieze

These triple rulesets were creating a lot of chaos for Silver players like me, who weren't used to it and the selection process were definitely not intuitive. Another one came along and I couldn't use Melee and Magic, so Fernheart was the logical choice. My opponent gambled on Goblin Psychic/Regal Peryton combination but I struggled midway because Regal Peryton had a speed of 8 when Enraged. Fortunately, I made it safely and secured the win, and all credit went to Fernheart for the Close Range ability.

Battle 5 - WIN

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

The final battle presented another triple ruleset. I went with an unconventional Fire Magic lineup because they will benefit greatly from Equalizer ruleset. With the summoner boost, they hit 3 to 4 Magic damage and they hit fast too. It turned out to be an easy win because my opponent placed a Taunt card in the 2nd position, and this meant Blast will hit more cards. All 6 cards remained standing at the end, so MVP by default was awarded to my tank! Haha.

So that sums up my 6 battles for this brawl! I think it's the first time I survived a brawl WITHOUT WATER LINEUPS and still made it through with a 83% win rate. (The previous time when I couldn't use my favourite Water lineups turned out be a disaster. Haha.)
