At the beginning of the new millennium, real-time strategy games began to develop with a frequency and accuracy in terms of historical data and civilisations that soon found hundreds of thousands of fans around the world.
One of the first to grab the standard-bearer banner was Travian, a massively multiplayer online strategy video game, known by its acronym MMORTS.
It was developed towards the end of 2004 and its ultimate goal was (and is) to reach the construction of a building called "Marvel" by reaching level 100.
The originality of the competition - at that time - in this work of conquest and colonisation is that the opponents try to destroy the buildings that their rivals are building, which in turn allows them to advance with the construction of their own.
Besides, the game itself has such a dose of realism that, at the time of its original publication, it was shocking, especially in Europe, since the three civilisations that make up the video game not only really existed but were the ones that laid the foundations of today's Western civilisation: the Gauls (France), the Germans (Germany) and the Romans (Italy).
While giving them a territorial meaning nowadays carries its risks, they serve to illustrate the three major civilisations of the world. While it is a fact that the Romans extended beyond present-day Italy, the Germans went beyond the confines of present-day Germany, and the Gauls in their conquests went beyond the French borders.
Every strategy game should have good historical, educational, etc. content, and Travian has it.
The only fantasy civilisation is the so-called Natars, an NPC civilisation that is beyond the control of the players, autonomous and unpredictable in a word. This civilisation is included in the line of characters created in video games from 2016 onwards, who are not really people but undefined entities that act not rationally but following certain behavioural patterns that, in turn, follow the prevailing trends in the game.
The story of the game tells that before the Romans invaded Travian, the Germans and Gauls were slaves of the Natars, a race so ancient that none of them were remembered except through the imaginary tales of minstrels and wanderers. Something similar to the stories told by minstrels in the Middle Ages to entertain the meetings of feudal lords and sing praises to this or that character with so much fantasy and imagination, like the stories of dragons.
The aim of the Natars is to build a Wonderland and dominate the world. The goal of the Travians is to build their Wonderland to live in a peaceful world.
The resources that can be used include both those for building such as Wood, Mud and Iron as well as those necessary for the subsistence of the community itself such as Grains.
In turn the Natars control all other resources in unwalled villages that serve to power the Travian army such as Spies, Consumption, Troops, Boots, Granary and a multitude of other items, but to take them over they must eliminate the Natars that protect them.
The popularity of the game led its developers to create Premium and Golden versions with the difference that some resources could be obtained by purchasing with gold, bought online or by text messages and to increase the production of a material by 25% per week.
In the latest version, called T4, numerous graphical improvements were added and some images, especially of troops and buildings, were redesigned.
A inicios del nuevo milenio los juegos de estrategia en tiempo real comenzaron a desarrollarse con una frecuencia y una precisión en lo que a datos históricos y civilizaciones se refiere, que pronto encontraron centenares de miles de aficcionados en todo el mundo.
Uno de los primeros en agarrar el estandarte de los abanderados fue ]Travian](https://www.travian.com), un videojuego de estrategia en línea multijugador masivo, denominado con sus siglas en inglés MMORTS.
Fue desarrollado hacia fines del año 2004 y su objetivo final era (y es) llegar a la construcción de un edificio llamado "Maravilla" alcanzado el nivel 100.
Lo original de la competencia -en ese momento- en este trabajo de conquista y colonización es que los adversarios intentar destruir los edficios que van construyendo sus rivales, lo que a su vez les permite avanzar con la construcción de los propios.
Aparte el juego tiene en si mismo una dosis de realismo tal que, en el momento de su publicación original fue impactante, sobre todo en Europa ya que las tres civilizaciones que integran el videojuego no solo realmente existieron sino que fueron las que sentaron los cimientos de la actual civilización occidental: los Galos (Francia), los Germanos (Alemania) y los Romanos (Italia).
Sin bien darle un significado territorial en la actualidad conlleva sus riesgos sirven para ilustrar las tres principales civilizaciones del mundo, si bien es un hecho que los romanos se extendieron más allá de la actual Italia, los germanos oltrepasaron los confines de la actual Alemania y los galos en sus conquistas superaron los límites franceses.
Todo juego de estrategia debería llevar adentro un buen contenido histórico, educacional, etc, y Travian lo tiene.
La única civilización de fantasía son los llamados Natares son una civilización NPC p PNJ en español que escapan al control de los jugadores, aon autónomos e imprevedibles en una palabra. Esta civilización se incluye dentro de la línea de personajes creados en los videojuegos a partir del año 2016, que no son realmente personas sino entes indefinidos que actán no en forma racional sino siguiendo determinados patrones de comportamiento que, a su vez, siguen las tendencias predominantes en el juego.
La historia del videojuego relata que antes de que los Romanos invadieron Travian, los Germanos y los Galos eran esclavos de los Natares, una raza tan antigua que ninguna se recordaba de ellas sino a través de relatos imaginarios de juglares y vagabundos. Algo similar a las historias que contaban los juglares en el medioevo para amenizar las reuniones de los señores feudalesy cantares loas a tal o cuál personaje con tanto de fantasía e imaginación, como las historias de los dragones.
El objetivo de los Natares es construir una Maravilla y dominar el mundo. El objetivo d elos habitantes de Travian es construir su Maravilla para vivir en un mundo en paz.
Los recursos que pueden ser usados comprenden ya sea aquellos para construir como la Madera, el Barro y el Hierro como aquellos otros necesarios para la subsistencia de la propia comunidad como los Cereales.
A su vez los Natares controlan todos los restantes recursos en aldeas sin murallas que sirven para potenciar el ejército traviano como Espías, Consumo, Tropas, Botas, Granero y una multitud de elementos más, pero para adueñarse de ellos deberán eliminar los Natares que la protegen.
La popularidad del juego llevó a sus desarrolladores a crear las versiones Premium y Golden con la diferencia de que algunos recursos podían ser obtenidos comprando con oro, comprados por internet o por mensajes de texto y poder aumentar la producción de una materia en un 25% semanal.
En la última versión, la llamada T4, son agregadas numerosas mejoras gráficas y rediñadas algunas imágenes especialmente de tropas y edificios.
