Hi all! This Sunday morning I went out early to pick up a friend and do a fun run together! We went to the area where I usually do my hill repeats but we went for a route that offered much more variety.
As we were quite early we noticed that the area was still quiet, so after a short warmup we decided to run technical mountain bike trails.
Despite that the temperature was not really high, the stuffiness in the air was extremely oppressive, meaning that despite the slow pace I was soon completely soaked with sweat. Regardless we had lots of fun, chatting, running and enjoying a little bit of nature!
By nature I am much more a solo runner than a social runner, but more recently I started to appreciate running together with others regardless of the difference in pace. For me running slower just means I am training something different - but I am still building. Plus I find it very rewarding to help others get some additional confidence to set higher goals!
For example, the guy I ran with is suffering from quite some injuries since his first marathon back in 2024, but is now recovered and motivated enough to sign up for an early 2026 marathon.
Happy running
