Although I was getting fairly good results when I was doing portraits, I hadn't thought about the idea of drawing myself, so I took this as a challenge that I would gradually set out to achieve.
Honestly, my first self-portraits were really terrible (because they were far from looking like me), and, although this frustrated me, I came to understand that drawing myself not only helped me to improve technically, but also spiritually. What do I mean by this? Well, it helped me to know myself better and connect with myself. There were many details in my face that I had not noticed and having to draw them frequently made me know them and learn their shape (for example, the real thickness of my lips, the shape of my eyes, the exact location of some moles or the volume of my cheeks...).
Si bien lograba resultados medianamente buenos al realizar retratos, no me había planteado la idea de dibujarme a mí misma, así que tome esto como un desafío que poco a poco me propondría alcanzar.
Sinceramente, mis primeros autorretratos eran realmente terribles (por el hecho que estaban lejos de parecerse a mí), y, aunque esto me frustraba, llegue a comprender que el dibujarme a mí misma no solo me ayudaba a mejorar a nivel técnico, sino también espiritual. ¿A qué me refiero con esto? Pues, me ayudó a conocerme más y conectarme conmigo misma. Habían muchos detalles en mi rostro en los que no había reparado y el tener que dibujarlas frecuentemente me hizo conocerlas y aprenderme su forma (por ejemplo, el verdadero grosor de mis labios, la forma de mis ojos, la ubicación exacta de algunos lunares o el volumen de mis mejillas…)
To this day I have not done any work on the theme of self-portrait, however, I have done many sketches of both full face and parts of it (such as my lips, my smile, my eyes, some facial expressions, among others).
Los dibujos que les presento los realicé el año pasado, fueron hechos con acuarelas y lápices de colores sobre una lámina de papel ideal para trabajar con acuarelas.
Al día de hoy no he vuelto a realizar alguna obra en la temática del autorretrato, sin embargo , sí he realizado muchos bocetos tanto de rostro completo como de partes de él (como mis labios, mi sonrisa, mis ojos, algunas expresiones faciales, entre otros).
