Although the first thing I told you about are the carpets, this carpet exhibition is actually located in the famous Sultan Khan. The inn is quite big and has wonderful artefacts. Each room has a different artefact, but let's take a look at the entrance first.

The entrance is quite magnificent like Shifaiye, Gok Madrasa and Double Minaret Madrasa. The carvings are very beautiful. The influence of the Seljuk Period can be easily seen again.

The inn has 8 rooms like this and after passing the prayer hall, you come across another entrance door.

In general, carpets owned or protected by the General Directorate of Foundations of the Republic of Turkey, private collectors and institutions under the control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are exhibited.

The lighting in the exhibition was great. It was not dark like most places. It was bright enough to see the designs of the carpets easily. The curator did a great job. I hope I will have the chance to come here again because I still hear the sounds as if they were weaving these carpets there. I can smell the odours of the root dyes used.

It was a great exhibition for me. I came to a point where I could easily explain the subject of inn-caravanserai, which was one of my exams during the tour, and I saw a unique silk carpet exhibition. I wonder if there is anything else I want to add, but I don't want to force it because there are so many things I can talk about in Eskişehir, our next stop. After all, I studied at university here for 4 years.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Ben iyiyim hatta şu sıralar yılbaşı kutlamalarının evde yapılmayacağını öğrendiğimden beri moralim biraz daha yüksek. Sonuçta evde temizlik ben yapmayacağım.

Şimdi ise sizinle bir yere gidiyoruz. Özel bir yere. Normalde bu sergi özel bir kişiliğe aitti. Demek istediğim devlete bağlı değildi. Bu yüzden aynı sergiyi bir daha görebilecek miyim bilmiyorum.

İlk olarak size bahsettiğim halılar olsa da aslında bu halı sergisi meşhur Sultan Hanı'nın içerisinde bulunuyor. Han oldukça büyük ve harika eserlere de sahip. Her odacıkta farklı bir eser bulunuyor ama bunlardan önce girişe bir göz atalım.

Giriş aynı Şifaiye, Gök Medrese ve Çifte Minareli Medrese gibi oldukça şatafatlı desem yeridir. İşlemeler çok güzel. Selçuklu Dönemi etkisi ise yine rahatlıkla görülebilmekte.

Çevredeki örneklerde görülenin aksine Sultan Hanı'nın ortasında bir adet Kubbeli Mescid bulunur.

Daha önce ben, o zamana kadar, bir kervansarayda ya da handa özellikle ibadet için yapılmış bir yer görmemiştim bırakın ortada olmasını. Tabii Sultan I. Alaaddin Keykubad tarafından 1229 yılında yaptırılan bu kervansarayın üzerinde İslamiyet izlerini görmemek şaşırtıcı olurdu. Her ne kadar İslamiyet'in verdiği görsel boşluk hâkim olsa da giriş olduça süslüydü bu da zaten önceki dönemden kalma bir özellik.

Size yukarıda odacıklardan bahsetmiştim. Bu odacıkların herbirinde de farklı eserler bulunuyordu. Aslında ilgisinin olmamasına rağmen nedense benim beynimde buraya yolda durup yemek yemek, dinlenmek ve uyumak için gelen misafirleri ırk ve statü olarak ayırdıklarını düşündürttü. Tabii bu durum aynı zamanda biraz özel kalabilmek için de olabilir. Sonuçta her şeyinizi herkesle paylaşmazsınız, hatta paylaşamazsınız da.

Hanın bu şekilde 8 odacığı bulunuyor ve ibadethaneyi geçtikten sonra karşınıza başka bir giriş kapısı çıkıyor.

Bu kapıdan girdikten hemen sonra karşınıza kocaman bir alan çıkıyor. Bu alan günümüzde bir sergi salonu olarak kullanılıyor. Genel olarak Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü, özel koleksiyoncular ve Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı kontrolündeki kurumlar tarafından sahip olunan ya da korunan halılarla sergi yapılıyor.

Halılar çok fazlaydı. Çok büyükler ve küçükler de vardı. Açıkçası hepsinin fotoğrafını çekmemin neredeyse imkânsız olduğunu bildiğimden sadece zevkime hitap edenlere yöneldim.

Bu halıların ipekleri İpek Yolu'ndan gelirmiş. Tabii bu yüzden de paha biçilemeyexek kadar değerliler. Bir de bu halılara sahip olan koleksiyoncuları düşünsenize. Nasıl bir finansal duruma sahip olmalısınız ki bu tarz halılarınız olsun?

Sergiyi bitirip kervansaraya ilk girdiğimiz yere yaklaşırken binanın yapısı oldukça ilgimi çekti. Taşların dizaynı ve süslemeler...

Serginin ışıklandırması harikaydı. Çoğu yer gibi karanlık değildi. Halıların dizaynlarını rahatlıkla görebileceğimiz kadar aydınlıktı. Küratör harika bir iş çıkarmış. Umarım buraya bir daha gelme şansım olur çünkü hâlâ sanki bu halıları orada dokuyorlarmış gibi sesler duyuyorum. Burnuma kullanılan kök boyaların kokuları geliyor.

Benim için harika bir sergi oldu. Hem tur boyunca sınavlarımdan biri olan han-kervansaray konusunu rahatlıkla anlatabileceğim bir noktaya geldim hem de eşi benzeri olmayan bir ipek halı sergisi gördüm. Eklemek istediğim başka bir şey var mı diye düşünüyorum fakat bir sonraki durağımız olan Eskişehir'de konuşabileceğim çok fazla şey olduğu için zorlamak istemiyorum. Sonuçta burada 4 sene üniversite okudum.
