What am I Afraid Of?
...the illusion of knowledge!
The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.
~~Daniel J. Boorstin
In this day and age, it is not uncommon to meet with someone espousing ideas on a particular topic, after only having read a few articles and watched a few videos on different platforms. Basically one becomes a master of a topic overnight, and one can confidently expound on the particular topic, confident that they understand all they have to. Only seeing the tip of the iceberg and thinking you have seen all there is to see, that is until of course the iceberg does tremendous damage......the illusion of knowledge and the lack of the awareness that there is soo much more.
― Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl
I have no problem with technology, in fact without it I wouldn't be here on this platform right now, and am actually working on being a contributor of using technology to build solutions to recurring problems, but there is a dark side to technology especially for those of us who take things just as they are presented without any questions whatsoever.
But the thought of walking around head held high, thinking that I have fully mastered all there is about a particular field or topic is just super scaly to me. Thinking that I know without really knowing the fact that I don't actually know is my greatest fear.
Something which unfortunately in our current society is very hard to escape with the myriad sources of watered down versions of a topic.
Unfortunately, many after seeing the tip, close themselves of to the fact that there could be so much more!
Anyway......
✌
Catch y'all in my next one!
Cheers!
