It's been sitting in my head since I got around 85% of my debt cleared up. My head kept reminding me I had wanted to start a business. And as I keep looking at the possibility of starting one I come up with excuses to avoid it. The truth is I have no idea what I want to do that would provide value. I mean enough value to make someone want to pay money and be completely satisfied. Which should put me in the position to make profits and still stay in business.

Yes, that's what business is about. Giving value as needed by your clients, in a dosage that is quite satisfying that they will be willing to part with their money. And once they do, it has to be favorable to you to continue to stay in business.
What gaps should my business fill?
The problem with starting my business is that I haven't been able to open my mind and see the gaps around me. I think if I could commit myself to find that gap, I would be able to create as much value as I can.

But you ought to know that there is a gap I would love to fill right now, the only thing holding me back is that the funds available aren't enough. Instead of getting into debt again, I step aside and try to build a buffer first.
Why do I need a buffer in business?
A buffer will help get the business from the ground up and keep it going until it begins to make any sort of money. And the problem with this kind of calculation is that I might bring in all sorts of emotions. I might not clearly define how much is needed to keep a business steady till it creates income. You know that thing we do, trying to think we can predict everything so we neglect to plan? Yes. That one.

A thorough business calculation will be worth it
This means I would need to do a thorough calculation of the funds that will foot my business bills. The overhead expenses, rents, salaries, phone bills, etc. Every tiny thing has to be put into consideration. To think that the biggest bill would be the electrical bill. The reason is that my country barely gives a power supply that lasts for 4-12 hours. We do not enjoy a steady power supply, thus, the cost of running a business goes up when the electrical bill is determined.

Profit isn't always guaranteed at the start
One thing you should also note is that we always tend to think that once a business starts, we will start making a profit. We often forget that it takes time for profit to be generated because our customers barely know about us.

We first need to win them over before we can start doing business. Through their reviews and feedback, we can gain additional customers. With this in mind, starting a business would mean I have to incorporate those periods I'll be living from hand to mouth. Make sure the business kicks off and stands before it would start bearing fruits.

Where will I get funding?
If I decide, let's do this, I'll be faced with the issue of getting funding. If I do not have any bootstrap, I'll need to hit the bank or talk to my family/friends to lend me some money. But I have been in debt before and I know the strain it placed on me mentally. I don't know if I would want to stray from this path again. This brings me to having to bootstrap.

What would bootstrap entail?
Bootstrapping will require that I separate business funds from my finance. Mixing them both would lead to jeopardy as there is a tendency I'll dip too deep and end up stranded somewhere.

If I'll be separating the two from each other, then, I'll also learn to live on tight budgets as every useful fund will be sent to help the business grow.
Businesses help the economy of the nation
All in all, I have always known that if I start a business I'll be helping the economy of the nation. And I am willing to be a part of that circle. So instead of sitting here and whining about all the possible things that could go wrong. I should rather decide what I need to get started and do it soon before the motivation gets stale. At the same time, I will need to look out for all the possible things that could go right.
