Hello Hiveians!
I can now say that I'm sucked with this challenge. I'm now on my 11th day of my
30-Day Blogging Challenge that was initiated by @tegoshei. This is a rabbit hole. I don't know if I can get out from here. The more I contemplated about the day's topic, the more it revealed something about myself which I ended up sharing with you. In a sense, I'm baring out my soul in this which I considered an investment. I just don't know if it's a good or a bad one.
For today's topic, it will be about superpowers. Quiet mundane for a topic, but trust me, I thought about this and I came to a conclusion that choosing a power itself would reveal so much about yourself. Be careful in your choice.
Let's start with this very broad yet tuned topic: if I could have a superpower.
Superpower - OmniscienceWhat Will You Do If You Have Some?

I suppose everyone agrees with me that we are a fan of pretending that we have superpowers when we were young. Because of what we read in the comics or watch in the television, we love to imitate those superhuman abilities and play the game of make believe. However, it often diminishes over time or as we grow older because we are slapped by the reality the superhuman abilities that we see on TV do not exist.
Now I made a little research, and I mean research by consulting Wikipedia, about superpowers. I was surprised by the range of this topic. Take note that I really thought this is mundane, so I never really cared so much.
The question is fairly easy to answer if you just approach it directly. My short answer would be: If I could have a superpower, I will do everything I can to make the world a better place for everyone. That's it! And this challenge has ended for today.
But I'm not an idealist nor a saint.
I wanted to make this post meet a certain number of words according to my liking, so I have to stretch this longer. If you can't live with that, be contented with my answer and go make the world a better place. If you want to know what I really think, you can read on or at least pretend until you get bored. Your choice.
I am a pragmatist and the first thing that pragmatists do is evaluate the practicality of things. The topic doesn't even identify the nature of the superpower that you can have. This leaves you to choose your own superpower or superpowers which leads to a lot of complications later on.
Aside from the nature of the superpower, there are other factors to be considered such as the manner in which the superpower is acquired, limitations of such superpower or the lack thereof, and the repercussions of attaining such superpower.

With all things considered, I choose: Omniscience. An obvious choice really.
I was really amazed by the 2014 action-thriller Lucy. A little bit lack-luster ending, some would say disappointing, but on the closer look, it really made sense. Once she obtained the knowledge of everything there was, there is, and there will be, she does not belong to human realm anymore. She transcended to the realm of the gods. I want that. I want to know everything there is to know.
In the comics or movies, obtaining a superpower is explained by science, pseudoscience, or supernatural. I hate pure science as it's boring as it is and I also hate the supernatural because it doesn't follow any logic. I wanted it to follow a certain logic with a touch of quirkiness here and there. I don't know how to achieve that, but movies are so good at explaining things even if there's no true science backing the explanation.
Knowing everything certainly has no limitations. Or is it? I think the possibilities are endless. You can certainly make the world a better place because you have all the knowledge there is to make it happen.
I'm not sure if I can bear the consequences of attaining one of the powers of God. Some said that in order to attain the knowledge of everything, you will become knowledge yourself. I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

Johnny Depp's 2014 science fiction Transcendence would be a perfect imagination for me. It brilliantly portrays a scenario on what could happen if some A.I. would attain that kind of awareness. It makes you think of the what ifs and explore those areas on different perspectives.
Okay. I need to stop this before it turns into a movie review. I think you already get the point. How about you? What's your choice for a superpower? Would you let a radioactive spider bite you?
