The other day, I visited Ayala Center Cebu, one of Cebu's famous malls, and claimed my finisher's kit from Cebu Marathon 2022 held last January-February 2022.
Cebu Marathon is the dream of any runner both amateur and elite. I've been eyeing joining the said event ever since 2018. But a series of mishaps affecting my health always got in the way of running in the dream event but I never got it off my list. In the last quarter of 2021, I finally registered for the event. Prepandemic, the event has always been the most awaited event of runners not just in Cebu but in neighboring Provinces as well. Even runners as far as Manila and Davao would join the event.
Given that situations haven't fully normalized, the organizer decided to hold a virtual run. Runners were given January to February to run their respective categories in one go and just upload everything on their website. They took more than a month to process and finalize everything and just this week, they sent an email with details of where and when people can claim their finisher's kit which includes a finisher's shirt and a finisher's medal.
I ran 22 kilometers for this virtual event; my longest run by far. I remember how hard it was to complete the run because I missed my warm-up! I woke up late and just decided I'll go ahead and skip the warm-up. I thought I've done this in the past and it wouldn't matter. But damn, I learned my lesson the hard way and would never skip warm-up for any long run.
I'm aiming to run my first ever full marathon this year, too. Hopefully, everything else aligns! Sharing photos of my finisher's kit (which I'm ultimately proud to show around) and photos from my actual run.
