Contest Topic: LIVING IN A MATERIAL WORLD
Our third contest title is an excerpt from the lyrics of the famous song "Material Girl" by the renowned musical artist and singer Madonna. Do you know her? And no, we won't be writing about the wealthy lifestyles of the rich and famous yet, on the other hand, would focus more on the different building materials that the realm of architecture and design are benefiting from nowadays.
We live in a world where we are physically surrounded by all sorts of building materials and finishes, plus construction items that comprise the very fabric of our built environments. Without these important elements, our surroundings would not be fit for human habitation and would never provide us the necessary comforts that we enjoy today.
For instance, concrete is one of the most essential and common building materials around. Without it, it's just not possible to erect skyscrapers, buildings, and similar structures, or the humble homes where we live in.
Hence, for this 3rd contest entitled "Living in a Material World", we would like to see your take, your ideas, and insights about your chosen building materials and finishes, with careful consideration of the following rules:
Show through Photos at least Three (3) or more of your favorite Building Materials and Finishes that you think are important for the architecture and design industries.
Describe and write about the Valid Reasons for your choices.
Based on your selected building materials and finishes, mention their specific Applications and Locations in a specified architectural or design (exterior or interior) setting.
We are definitely looking forward to all your amazing contest entries! Be as creative, unique, and detailed as you could possibly be. All the best!
