Saludos nuevamente comunidad Music, hoy martes 13 de Diciembre 2022, estoy de vuelta para un nuevo Three Tune Tuesday, la mejor iniciativa de música en la blockchain Hive, espacio creado por @ablaze, para todos los que amamos la música, así no seamos músicos. Y bueno, como ya es costumbre, pues les traigo otro de mis vinilos, y esta vez es el turno de una gran banda española, se trata de Mecano.
Greetings again Music community, today Tuesday December 13, 2022, I am back for a new Three Tune Tuesday, the best music initiative on the Hive blockchain, a space created by @ablaze, for all of us who love music, even if we are not musicians. And well, as usual, I bring you another of my vinyls, and this time it's the turn of a great Spanish band, it's Mecano.
Creo que en España y en toda Hispanoamérica difícilmente habrá alguien que haya crecido en los 80’s que no conozca a Mecano, y es que esta banda de pop-rock, tuvo una larga trayectoria que ocupó prácticamente toda la década de los ochenta e inicios de los noventa. La estética de la banda, la característica voz de su vocalista principal, Ana Torroja; las estupendas letras y las melodías únicas y hasta cierto punto experimentales, enriquecieron en gran medida el panorama música de esta fabulosa década, y formó parte del soundtrack de la vida de muchas personas.
I think that in Spain and in all of Latin America there will hardly be someone who grew up in the 80's who does not know Mecano, because this pop-rock band had a long career that spanned practically the entire decade of the eighties and early nineties. The aesthetics of the band, the characteristic voice of its main vocalist, Ana Torroja; the stupendous lyrics and the unique and to some extent experimental melodies greatly enriched the music scene of this fabulous decade, and was part of the soundtrack of many people's lives.
A Mecano lo oí por primera vez en una emisora radial de mi ciudad, y si mal no recuerdo la primera canción que conocí de ellos fue “Me cuesta tanto olvidarte”, una bella balada que habla del desamor, del duelo que se siente cuando el amor no da para más. Luego, conocí “Cruz de Navajas”, y también “Hijo de la Luna”.
I heard Mecano for the first time on a radio station in my city, and if I remember correctly the first song I heard from them was “It's so hard for me to forget you”, a beautiful ballad that talks about heartbreak, mourning What does it feel like when love doesn't give for more? Later, I got to know “Cruz de Navajas”, and also “Son of the Moon”.
Este acetato que hoy comparto con ustedes, es la cuarta producción de Mecano, y se titula “Entre el cielo y el suelo”, un álbum excepcionalmente bueno, tanto a nivel musical como en sus letras, y con una Ana Torroja de voz más madura y hermosa, (claro, sin perder su característico tono). Este vinilo en particular es un obsequio que me hicieron en el año 1986, año de su lanzamiento; y si observan su estética es muy particular, pues sale una foto de los tres miembros de la banda, en tonos grises y azules, que ocupa toda la portada, y a la derecha, en letras longitudinales, está el nombre de la banda y del disco.
This acetate that I am sharing with you today is the fourth production by Mecano, and is entitled “Between the sky and the ground”, an exceptionally good album, both musically and lyrically, and with an Ana Torroja with a more mature and beautiful voice (of course, without losing her characteristic tone). This particular vinyl is a gift that was given to me in 1986, the year of its release; and if you look at its aesthetics it is very particular, because there is a photo of the three members of the band, in gray and blue tones, which occupies the entire cover, and on the right, in longitudinal letters, is the name of the band and the album.
Al girar la carátula, podemos observar un fondo blanco, en donde resalta a la izquierda una columna compuesta por las fotos de los tres integrantes de Mecano, comenzando por Ana Torroja, abajo está José María Cano y de último Nacho Cano. Al lado de las fotos, están enlistadas las diez canciones del álbum, diferenciando con unas enormes letras amarillo claro, el Lado A y el Lado B. También tiene datos de la fabricación del disco, que según vemos fue fabricado por Rodven Discos (en Venezuela), bajo licencia de la disquera Ariola, que era española. También podemos ver la fecha de edición (año 1986), y otros datos de carácter legal, aunque esta portada está deteriorada como pueden observar, de hecho, el disco, por haberlo prestado, me lo devolvieron (luego de mucha insistencia), en un lamentable estado, incluyendo el propio acetato. Esto me enseñó que los discos no se prestan.
By turning the cover, we can see a white background, where a column made up of photos of the three members of Mecano stands out on the left, starting with Ana Torroja, below is José María Cano and lastly Nacho Cano. Next to the photos, the ten songs of the album are listed, differentiating with huge light yellow letters, Side A and Side B. It also has data on the manufacture of the disc, which as we can see was manufactured by Rodven Discos (in Venezuela ), under license from the Ariola record label, which was Spanish. We can also see the edition date (year 1986), and other data of a legal nature, although this cover is deteriorated as you can see, in fact, the disc, for having lent it, they returned it to me (after much insistence), in a sorry state, including the acetate itself. This taught me that records don't lend.
Para hoy quería hacer también un ejercicio de arqueología moderna, haciendo un cálculo en dólares americanos del costo del álbum, pero esta vez no será posible porque el precio está ilegible, ya que fue tachado al momento de obsequiármelo. Aquí pueden ver que el disco no está en el mejor estado, sin embargo aún lo conservo porque es un bonito recuerdo.
For today I also wanted to do an exercise in modern archaeology, calculating the cost of the album in US dollars, but this time it won't be possible because the price is illegible, since it was crossed out when he gave it to me. Here you can see that the disc is not in the best condition, however I still keep it because it is a nice memory.
Ahora vamos con mis canciones / Now let's go with my songs
Este disco es uno de los mejores de Mecano, quizás porque en este punto, la madurez musical de sus tres integrantes había alcanzado otro nivel, y ya tenían experiencia acumulada en varios escenarios musicales de su natal España y de Europa en general, aunque luego se proyectaron a toda Hispanoamérica. Inicio mi trilogía de canciones con el tema Hijo de la Luna, el cual narra la historia de un pacto que hizo una mujer gitana con la Luna para poder casarse con un miembro de otra tribu, pacto que tuvo éxito y se casaron. Sin embargo, el precio pautado fue el hijo primogénito de la pareja, el cual al nacer no tenía los rasgos propios ni del padre ni de la madre, por lo que el marido pensó que era fruto de una infidelidad, por lo que mató a la mujer y lanzó el niño al monte. Una historia trágica, cantada de forma bella y poética, que me gustó mucho por su temática, ya que en ese tiempo me gustaba mucho el pueblo gitano. This record is one of Mecano's best, perhaps because at this point, the musical maturity of its three members had reached another level, and they already had accumulated experience in various musical settings in their native Spain and in Europe in general, although they later They projected to all of Latin America. I start my trilogy of songs with the theme Son of the Moon, which tells the story of a pact that a gypsy woman made with the Moon to be able to marry a member of another tribe, a pact that was successful and they married. However, the agreed price was the first-born son of the couple, who at birth did not have the characteristics of either the father or the mother, for which the husband thought it was the result of infidelity, for which he killed the woman and threw the child into the mountains. A tragic story, sung beautifully and poetically, which I really liked for its theme, since at that time I really liked the gypsy people. Mi siguiente canción es la hermosa “50 palabras, 60 palabras o 100”, una delicada balada en la cual, la voz de Ana Torroja hace los coros, aunque la voz principal es la de Nacho Cano. El uso magistral de los sintetizadores y teclados, más el juego de voces, crean algo que para mí es sublime. Esta canción fue casi que premonitoria a mi posterior divorcio, etapa en la cual la oí muchas veces, (a veces uno se autoflagela). Aquí les comparto parte de la letra, y el audio de la canción original en estudio, la del disco. Hay versiones en directo, pero creo que los Mecano se pusieron muy experimentales con ella y no suena igual de bien que la original.
My next song is the beautiful “50 words, 60 words or 100”, a delicate ballad in which Ana Torroja's voice is the backing vocals, although Nacho Cano is the main voice. The masterful use of synthesizers and keyboards, plus the game of voices, create something that for me is sublime. This song was almost a premonition of my subsequent divorce, a stage in which I heard it many times (sometimes one self-flagellates). Here I share part of the lyrics, and the audio of the original song under study, the one on the album. There are live versions, but I think Los Mecano got too experimental with it and it doesn't sound as good as the original.
Y cerrando mi trío de canciones, les he traído “No es serio este cementerio”, una muy buena canción, cuya temática me pareció muy original y hasta divertida cuando la oí por primera vez, y la música está estupenda. Recuerdo cantarla mucho, y obstinar a mis padres con el disco, porque lo ponía a sonar en el tocadiscos y si la oía en la radio, también le daba volumen y la cantaba. Aquí también les dejo una parte de su letra y el video oficial, para que la disfruten.
And closing my trio of songs, I have brought you “This cemetery is not serious” , a very good song, whose theme seemed very original and even funny when I heard it for the first time, and the music is great. I remember singing it a lot, and obstinate my parents with the record, because they played it on the record player and if I heard it on the radio, I also turned it up and sang it. Este ha sido mi aporte para esta buena iniciativa del amigo @ablaze en su edición número 81, a manera de homenaje a una gran banda española, que hizo muy buena música, con grandes letras, un sonido muy original y experimental, aportando una estética genial durante los 80’s, como fue “Mecano”.
