This continues on my process of working through @sidwrites' list of 15 Ultimate Tips & Challenges For Every Hive User.
You can read my previous posts here:
The third item on the list was a challenge - to pick a goal and SMASH IT!
I first set the goal of posting every day for a week, starting on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. I smashed it out and earned the HiveBuzz Weekly Author badge on August 31st 2020.
With that small success achieved, I decided to set a suite of goals to work on for the month of September.
September Hive Goals
- Post every day of the month (to earn the HiveBuzz Monthly Author badge)
- Earn an average of 1 Hive per day from author and curation rewards
Along with these is my slow goal of following 200 new people by October 31st.
So far I'm on target for both of these. Posting every day hasn't proved easy. Despite having a long list of post topic ideas, I'm forever second guessing what I'm writing and trying not to post rubbish. The challenge is a great motivator though - I want that badge!
There have already been a few benefits. I'm starting to see the impact weekday and time you publish can have on how well a post does. I've also been exploring new topic tags as I search for ones that fit my posts and discovering great content and new people to follow along the way. Lastly, I'm seeing how daily blogging can fit into my schedule and I'm a little more conscious of photographing potential post subjects throughout the day.
I feel like I'm finally "unfurling" here on Hive, like that fern frond in the header photo. Setting these little goals and challenges has really helped, and having something like sidwrites' article as a motivating little road map has been awesome.
Another kind of challenge
At the end of August I created a personal reading challenge called #HiveBookBingo - Introducing Hive Book Bingo. So far I've posted about one book and have six more to read and review. For October I'm trying to come up with some other "thinking outside the box" challenges like this to take up.
Until next time,
@Sammie
