This is the first in a series of posts that I will where I explore specific battle configurations. As with the posts I have done in the past, the lineups are guided by historical battle data from Splinterlands.
To begin with I will focus on lineups made up by the Chaos Legion set, including promo cards.
This post examines Even Stevens matches in Modern Diamond league.
Quix the Devious (20 mana)
This setup features a tough frontline with Pelacor Conjurer buffed up by the Naga Assassin's swiftness. Secondly, the core damage output is backline, which can be unexpected in Even Stevens (most sneak cards are odd mana). In case of a mirror sneak, or opportunity attackers, they will target Vruz and end up buffing Dr. Blight or the Dhampir Infiltrator. All in all, very versatile and powerful setup.
Lux Vega (21 mana)
This setup also uses Swiftness and Pelacor Conjurer to form a tough frontline. In addition, it has a Tank Heal to keep the Conjurer alive. The main damage will come from Dr. Blight, and Celestial Harpy will pick off the small targets. If the Conjurer dies though, Vulguine takes the frontline spot with boosted some extra scavenged health. With enrage, it can dish out significant damage. The main weakness with this setup is magic reflect, so watch out for Pelacor Conjurer-Dax Paragon combos.
Kelya Frendul (24 mana)
This setup features Baakjira as a massive frontline tank. With River Nymph's cleanse, it will not be easy to take down the whale. Decent amount of damaage, and entirely frontline-directed, with cripple, stun and snare to counter typical Even Stevens frontlines. Vurnerable to sneak setups like the Quix team above.
Astral Entity (22 mana)
The idea with this setup is to provide a tough frontline relying on dodges to buy time for Dr. Blight and Venari Bonesmith tear down the opponent. It's well suited for when dragon and water are not in play. With phase and dodge, Wily Coyotian can tank magic attackers for an extended time. In case of ranged attackers, Riftwing provides headwinds and can be relied upon to dodge quite a few attacks when it comes frontline.
Tarsa (24 mana)
Not nearly as safe as the other choices, but useful in certain situations. The setup relies on taking huge first strike with Exploding Rats, and then letting it blow up to be replaced by the Antoid Platoon tank. Speed manipulation with Scavo Chemist and Supply Runner cover Tarsa's main weakness.
