Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library! Here is the current Library Link post!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Space Wolves incoming!
As explained in This post about new reveals at Adepticon the Space Wolves are suddenly being launched and dropped on our heads suddenly!
Thus my time for reviewing their Datasheets is running out. I have 34 Reviews to do, I am trying to maintain a fast pace so I will give myself 17 days including today to complete all of these. That means that the last day of this personal challenge will be the 15th of April 2025!
Beyond them looms another 85 reviews of the Coming soon section! I better get cracking!
Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear
With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $264 to pay off!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
668 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #325, I am 343 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
Space Wolves, Bjorn the Fell-Handed
10th Edition Index
Known by many names: Eldest, Trueclaw, Revered One and most importantly, Last of the Company of Russ.
Bjorn the Fell Handed was one of the Primarch Leman Russ' Wolfguard during the Great Crusades in the 31st Millenium.
After Russ declared that he would be going on a quest, he took his Wolf Guard - his personal bodyguard and pack on the quest, save for Bjorn who he would entrust with the leadership of the Space Wolves Chapter.
Back then, the Space Wolves had 13 Great Companies, each led by a Wolf Lord which is like a King. Bjorn would then become chief amongst them, bearing the title of Great Wolf.
Bjorn led the Space Wolves Chapter for many years and faithfully until he was injured and interred in the walking sarcophagus of a Dreadnought. The Eldest was still awakened to give council and go into war when needed, but the torch of Great Wolf was passed down to others.
There has been many Great Wolves since, but Bjorn was the second. He is over 10,000 years old. He stands in full support of Logan Grimnar, the current Great Wolf, who is over 700 years old!
Bjorn the Fell-Handed is a part of my 2,000pts army and 190pts to field. He costs $62.50 as he is depicted above.
I built my Bjorn out of other Dreadnought parts because back then, there was no "Official" model and mine looks great!
Let's check his stats!

Abilities
Feel No Pain 5+ (included above)
Legendary Tenacity
When an attack is allocated to Bjorn, halve the Damage characteristic of the attack.
Lord of Deceit (Used to be called Ancient Tactician)
When an enemy uses a Stratagem while within 12" of this model, increase the cost of that Stratagem by 1.
Thoughts
I love Bjorn. I love fielding him. So many games he has survived against horrendous odds thrown against him. His Lord of Deceit rule was Ancient Tactician but there are other units of the game that does the same as him, so they created a blanket rule and modified it in one of the updates for balance purposes.
For Weapons, the Helfrost Cannon is my favourite with a 5 flat damage, no rolling needed. Running him in Ironstorm means 2+ to hit and S9 vs big things that are T9 and above, I use the Ironstorm roll to re-roll the Wound roll.
AP-3 means that most vehicles go to a 5+ or 6+ save and lone characters go to their 4+ invul save. When they fail this, smack! 5 Damage.
Also the S6 Damage 2 Flamer is great for Overwatch where he fires both flamers to thin the incoming attackers!
The Heavy Plasma Cannon is also great! Damage 2 on the Standard setting and Damage 3 on the supercharge.
Bjorn has a 5+ Feel No pain should his weapon overheat.
That makes 4 Space Wolves Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 11.48% Completed. The total Completed is 35.48% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
